If those reports are right its basically been the perfect model of how clubs should go about their transfer business - they've seen a player they want and made an official bid of the amount they value him at and we've said no we want this much and they've said no thats too much we'll go elsewhere. People have got very annoyed about nothing if thats the case.

There was no reason to leak those quotes. He didn’t just move on. We had no intention of selling him unless our price was met. He framed us as the bad guys for basically not negotiating with him when we had no intention to negotiate the price. Tbf if we had given united any indication we would settle for 50m they wouldn't have moved on to other targets so quickly.
