With respect, they won a Trophy last season mate.

So whilst that doesnt make them a force, it puts them quite a bit higher than us.
They won the FA Cup. Which is a random competition a lot of the time. It was won by Wigan.
Yes I know we’d be delighted if we won it. But what can Man Utd be realistically expected to win next season? Or compete with?
He’s good enough to join a genuine force so why would he want Man Utd?

I think Utd have shown very poor judgement in trying to complete this transfer.

The initial bid was stupidly low, a bid that never could accept, even with a PSR issue.
They have now been forced to increase their bid to what should have been their opening bid and been rejected again. They now have to walk away and admit defeat or increase the bid by another 10m which will also probably be rejected. Branthwaite is now getting very dear for them as they don't have endless funds either. They have high earning players who are difficult to sell.
If there was an advantage in signing the player before June 30th that is now gone so they will have to pay full price.
These two things cancel eachother out really. Either they can afford to pay what we want and they're just lowballing us hoping that they can get him for cheaper but will eventually pay up when they have to or they can't afford what we want and so have deliberately started the bidding lower so that they can significantly increase their offers without ever getting to the amount we originally asked for. If they know the player wants to go there theres no point in bidding against themselves is there. I've never known people get so worked up about a standard transfer negotiation before.

I've said it previously..he's the best I've seen since brian labone..a player who won 2 league titles the fa cup ..played in Mexico World Cup 1970 and turned down a place in 1966 world cup squad cause he was getting married...it would be criminal to sell Braithwaite for less than 80 million...having said that I would love keep him and build a team around him but I know that's unlikely. It depends if he throws a transfer request in.

Te's really good when playing in a low block. He's ok in a higher one too. Young, pacy etc. So far his tackles have been spot on but there's the catch. As the great Maldini said: if a defender needs to commit in a tackle, a mistake has already been made. One day soon Branthwaite is going to get one wrong and we're down to ten men... And then it's going to happen on another day. He's not the finished product, yet. And no-one knows if he's ever going to be one either.

So I can in a way understand united's reluctance to pay 70 + add ons. I would sell him with that price. But not a penny less.

Please don’t say that.

It identifies you as one of these:

We are being bullied by man utd tight wads and the the utd biased media because of our financial situation..just hope we put 2 fingers up to them all and the Premier league who created a monster where only the selct few can compete.

This is so reminiscent of the Stones/Chelsea saga years ago and they bid low and then their arrogant fans moaned about us not taking the money. Stay strong and eventually get the proper money, hopefully from a club like City who actually win things.
