2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

The 3 man defense seems to benefit both Branthwaite and Tarkowski. Remains to be seen if we go forward with the formation. It also helps that we don't have a decent RW or a backup LB, so 3-5-2 is the best we can do unless we have some players in the door by Sunday.

Just having workable alternatives is valuable in itself.

Adaptability is what we're had none of for 2 years.

Adaptability is undoubtedly valuable, but there are some glaring shortage of talent. We were spotty with 4 at the back and we had our right hand tied behind our back for most of the game.

I don’t think anyone bid anywhere near £75 million, and seems unlikely that they will in the summer either.
I think you're right. We'd he looking at 45-50m tops and that's assuming a buyer could be found. City have made their moves. United made theirs in the Summer. I can't see him going across the park and Arsenal have bigger issues to solve. Spurs? Seems unlikely but with a new manager it's possible. Newcastle might be his only option

He'll probably have gone off the radar for most big clubs by the summer which is good for us as. Him and O'Brien next season please, bring in a third to go alongside them in a 5 if we can as Tarkowski is obviously on the decline.

His form has dropped massively, and I cannot understand why.

Maybe he played above his actual level last season and has now dropped to where he is supposed to be.

If so there is no point in selling him as we won't get more than 35M.

Newcastle and Chelsea.

Guehi and Branthwaite will be the alternatives for them unless they think there is better value abroad.

Given that , as you say , Arsenal , City and United are well stocked at CH and Branthwaite's form has dipped alarmingly it is highly unlikely that we will get a few around £70 million for him.

If that means we keep him , great but I don't know how , with PSR , we fund what will be a massive rebuild in the summer.

probably gets hounded out the club like other good players, because the lad is having a dip in form.

some fans have short memories, as its been him who has carried the defence for the last couple of seasons
That will be sad.

He has been brilliant for two seasons, but since he has come back from the injury this season seems to be playing poorly relative to the last two seasons.

I would want him to sign a five-year contract and Moyes to make him the captain next season, but he has to display the form of the previous two seasons.
