Branthwaite and Garner make a world of difference to this team. It’s a completely different spine with those two in it fully fit and playing well.

I dont think its a coincidence that while most everyone was poor, this was the first game in a long time that we had the majority of possession and had 18 shots. Poor shots, yes, but basically the only time we had so much possession, shots, or time in the opponents box was the Bournemouth match. Sometimes the little things like calmly heading a ball to a teammate make a huge difference without showing on the stat line.

That’s the spine for me. I’m hoping Chermiti comes good this season too, losing him Garner Branthwaite Patterson in pre season was so annoying when you’re wanting to build round that core.
Could potentially add Iroegbunam to that list as well if he could become a bit more disciplined.
If we can get the squad fit again and add to it in January I think we have enough.

Great to have him back. Defence is always more calmer with him at the heart of it and as the recovery defender on a few breaks West Ham had he stood up well to them.

He did fine enough today , not his best performance as he looked sluggish at times , a couple of mistakes particularly letting Bowen through, but he’ll be back to his best soon enough.
