2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

Direct quote from Dyche in today’s Times:

“Any offer of a certain level would still have to be looked at by the club. We are in a better position because of player trading and how much we have lowered wages but it is not solved.
Therefore, there would still be a moment where the big people at the club get a phone call and go ‘Right, here’s the reality, we’ve been offered this’ and then it is down to them
The Powers that be are still not in a position that they go: ‘Nah, we are fine, we can start bankrolling the club and we are going to sign players’ as you can quite obviously tell”

We are being softened up bigly for a sale of a top player
We know that just about every player is for sale at a price but the sale of Branthwaite to Liverpool would probably be a step too many for supporters.
The reaction would make the hiring of Benitez look a welcome party.

Sorry op was on last week of July, so 4 weeks so doesn’t make a difference really
It was way before then as he was in training 3/4 weeks ago. I don’t know the exact date, but surely you do the opp once hes left out of the England squad. Which was the last week in May

It was mentioned that he came back to pre season, he then went away with Everton to Ireland for the week, then he came back at then sometime after that he had the surgery. So yes, he was seen in training around that time but he then required surgery around that time and that’s why he is out now. The medical team thought he wouldn’t require surgery, but then turned out he did. So that’s why he was seen early on pre season, there is even a video of him in Ireland speaking about the injury, and he said he be back the following week with the team. His surgery was after Ireland.

Pretty much the same for all but a handful of clubs tbh. We've made our stance on what Branthwaite is worth, lets just hope it hasn't all been a bluff, or that things haven't changed, and the stance is still £70m or he stays.

Dyche was quoted before the Brighton game as saying we are a selling club now not the buying one we once were.

Time was, you’d pick up a paper and see we’d signed Lineker or Cottee or Ball or or or

At 63, I’ve accepted that it’s highly unlikely I’ll see Everton win the league again in my lifetime but a cup would be nice

I'm 66 and I've accepted we are more likely to see multiple relegations and no cup or league wins in my lifetime
But being the dopey fool that I am I will still support my one and only club

I don’t see him going for £70m. Since Friedkin walked away any transfer business has disappeared. I can see us getting to a point in Jan that we see him go for nearer £60m.

If he gets sold to Liverpool then it's going to get ugly

Not his fault like, not like he's a lifelong blue or anything, just a job to him

But Moshiri must know how selling our best player to the RS will go down

Then again, this IS Moshiri, the clueless goggle-eyed freak, that we're talking about
I don’t think it needs to get ugly, but whilst these current rumours maybe mischievous (and probably are) it is a potentially dangerous situation as the normal politics in play for a board to consider the fallout if they sanctioned such a move does not exist here with a makeshift board and absentee / departing majority shareholder. I don’t trust Moshiri.
