Still struggle with the free style frantic stuff.
But really like the easy stuff.
Deserves it's own thread again.
Any recommendations ?
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "easy stuff" (I assume you don't mean nonsense like Kenny G) but Stan Getz is widely regarded as the smoothest sax player in jazz:
What do you think of this?

Thats brilliant but the off notes from the keyboard do me ears in, Bit of fusion going on there too
Nice and managed to listen to the whole thing without twitching.
I suppose "easy" kinda means slow and mostly older 30's 40's easy listening stuff,
I started the first thread purely cuz I haven't a scooby about it and am in need of educating.
Gonna try and keep up this time.
I know what you mean about that kind of discordant element to some of the more free-jazz kind of stuff. Takes a bit more getting into but once you do....Thats brilliant but the off notes from the keyboard do me ears in, Bit of fusion going on there too

Reading that back I wasn't being clear. I was talking about the post and then making a recommendation completely separately. That's not free jazz. That's great jazz! In fact so great that Steely Dan nicked the opening
Could probably be having the same conversation about techno as this one about jazz. It's far more diverse than the uninitiated recognise.Crumbs ! what was I dancing to back in the day then
Do still love a bit of banging beats with a little trance thrown in too though.
I'll check that out thanks !
Good luck with yer vinyl.
Didn’t get it the first time, still don’tThere's still no 'R' in 'Jazz'.
