Our medical team have done a brilliant job with Gomes but have messed this up beyond belief.

They gambled by not taking him straight to surgery in the first place. They shouldn't have even allowed him to be involved in those first two games tbh.

He's never had a bad injury record so just got to hope after this one that's finally it. I find it hard to blame the player here. A lot of this is on the medical team who frankly aren't good enough.

Some questions to answer about how this has been able to happen. Doesn't sound great from the medical team.

....definitely. Also, how the injury occurred in the first place. I distinctly recall the player saying he wasn’t match fit and needed pre-season training but Silva threw him in. This type of injury is often the result of muscle fatigue.

As I’ve said, my fear is this will now be a recurring problem throughout his career.

That’s the big thing, the lad himself said he wasn’t match ready, then Silva throws him in at the deep end at half time at Palace and starts him the next game instead of easing him in till he was up to speed, when the option was there to try something different formation wise

Bad luck, I feel sorry for Gbamin.

On waiting v surgery it can be a difficult choice. hindsight is 20x20, but surgery has plenty of risks and shouldn't be done lightly, scarring, infections etc. Not sure if I'd be keen on having my leg sliced up and stitched back together. Perhaps Gbamin wasn't either?

I have a picture in my mind of Gomes and Gbamin lying in hospital beds next to each other with the life being sucked out of Gbamin and transfused into Gomes like some scene from 'Get Out'. Only this can explain ones miraculous recovery and the others equally miraculous demise.
