Usually when you see an injured player's thread being bumped I'm expecting good news on his recovery. I'm afraid with this guy I'm waiting for the news that he's tripped over a cushion and broken his leg into 20 pieces.

Fingers crossed he does come back in September but seems an awful risk to me given what has come before. Such a shame as I think had he been available and fit we would have had a very different looking season.

That's the issue with the way the squad has been built though having ONE player who can be DM of a required quality is nowhere near good enough. Delph is always injured something that could easily have been predicted , Davies isn't up to standard, Beni is clearly not good enough. It's terrible squad building. We are left with nobody who puts their foot in, in midfield. It's negligence

Also it's an issue we see in other areas of the team we are lucky DCL and Holgate have come through or we would have been in serious trouble. The way we leave ourselves so thin in certain positions despite having spent 450m is really poor.

Even if he is fit for the start of next season we need another defensive midfielder. He has lost a year of football and still needs to adapt to this league. Best case scenario is he is fit on day one we can put him on the bench and gently ease him in. I think had he been fit we would have finished higher this season but other teams will probably say the same about some of their players.

Can Ancelotti find use for him at CB or will we sell him? Do not think that CA will at all feel comfortable relying on Gbamin as a CM after the overall performance and after Covid - he has recently said about our lack of energy and dominance in midfield. It is weird wondering if your club should sell a player you've seen 1 game or so.

He’s made of play dough mate.
He can’t kick a football without getting injured, which I think could be an issue for a footballer.

Question from an idiot... Do football clubs carry insurance on their players to cover asset loss? Would an insurer even write such a policy? Seems like there is insurance for everything nowadays.

They used to be a standard issue, back in the day. But like you allude to, at the top end, not sure the premiums would be sustainable.
