Does anyone remember the most recent return news on him? Excluding the obvious “he’ll never play again” info.

Think signing 2 CM’s is important as even if he’s expected back sometime soon, he really needs to be given time and not be expected to be our saving grace in midfield. 4th choice midfielder behind 2 new CM’s & Gomes. If he’s still good enough, he will eventually get his chance.

we sold gueye and ended up having our worst season in 16 years in the prem

shows how important it was to have Gbamin and Delph fit this season because clearly our central midfield is one of the weakest in the league and is so easily exploitable. Gomes is also very limited in his defensive abilities, he is more of a luxury midfielder who you would have trying to do the fancy stuff whereas gueye would be the workhorse.

i imagine delph and gbamin were brought in as workhorses

certainly davies has to be shipped out on loan or sold this season. besic is in his final year and will probably get loaned out again.

can we rely on him not getting injured next season? probably not. We need at least another 3 decent central midfield options if both davies and delph are sold.

There was a strange article by Pulitzer Phil Kirkbride the other day, suggested that when he was fit to train, Ancelotti was happy about Gbamin and thought he was going to be his new high-energy midfielder. Good news for those of us who can't wait to see Davies rightly out of the team again

In fairness to Silva, he bought Gbamin Gomes and even Delph as a backup just to ensure Schneiderlin Siggurdson and Davies didn’t get a look in this season. The football gods of course took all three away from us so that the unholy trinity were back front and centre again.
