When a format is popular the TV companies flog it to death believing the British public are happy to watch the same dross endlessly which is why we have to stomach Ant and Dec year after year.
If the OP is correct at least that rules out Lenny Henry.
I personally watch Soccer Saturday with the sound turned down as I am only Interested in the scores as if I wanted to listen to a load of nomarks talking I could just turn on Talk sport.

Or go the boozer

... supplemented by the pink Echo (when it reported on both teams equally).

I hated the pink, sent out by my al fella to pick it up to a massive Saturday evening queue at Co op when i should have been watching Family Fortunes and making plans which park to hang around that night.

Still can't believe that some Blues wrote groveling letters to Tommy Smith's letters page to try and avoid getting a "bounce ball" from a man who in the kindest words was a confirmed racist and abomination of a human being.

Agreed D ... I bunged my post on about it 'cos @Eggs and myself will remember it more for the coverage in the 60's & 70's ... thinking about it, a regular letter writer in those days was somebody called Reg Gadd from Sunlight Street, he'd comment on footy mainly, but I think he liked his boxing as well, didn't know him but never forgotten his name, he was probably a roll model for Geoff from West Derby, but Reg was more balanced!
