Many of us commented that the good first season of Brown Shoes was down to what he inherited from Moyes. After that it went down hill and we were on the Wigan path.

Pretty much confirming what most of us have always known.

Strange, I always thought it was Moyes who ruined Jelavic.

He scored 9 in 13 games when he first came and was on fire. Then he started tracking back more and running around instead of just being up front. He then went on to score 7 goals in the next 37. Before Martinez even came to the club.

I've always seen Martinez as a cup manager and Belgium were number 1 in the FIFA World Rankings in March 2016. Martinez took over in August 2016.

For a set of players that he has at his disposal, you could argue that better managers would have taken that Belgium side to at least the World Cup final, and they failed to reach the UEFA Nations League finals, despite their qualifying group being the easiest one.

My biggest gripe with him as Everton manager was our players never seemed 100% fit. We look tired as hell on the 70th minute while other teams caught a second wind.

Yeah we shouldn't overlook this, a bit of Jelavic making excuses.

Basically Jelavic has a season with Moyes after his initial purple patch and looked like he was still really struggling. I think his decision to leave was more one of that he couldn't really lead the line for a team like Everton, under Moyes and Martinez.

On reflection I wish we'd retained him for the remainder of that season but that's purely because we were really unlucky to lose Kone for about 15 months, and then Lacina Traore got injured right away also which left us with zero options upfront after Lukaku. We dropped a few points in January that season due to having no striker, probs cost us 4th.

And he still can't deliver Belgium a cup with the best team they'll probably gather.
Round of applause for Bobby for getting number in the pointless mens rankings.

Yeah he deffo should have won all those Euros (zero) and World Cups (one) he has managed them in...
