2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

Don't want to sound negative as he had his best performance for us on Sunday and he contributed a lot to the win, being heavily involved with a couple of the goals. He also should have got an assist against Villa. So there are some positive signs.

But I think his performance is being overrated. In the 2nd half he was retreating back to his previous self a bit and was becoming a bit of a liability. He had a chance to cross one in the second half and turned back, and shortly after played a terrible pass in to the middle where they nearly broke on us.

I'm still not convinced he will be good enough in this league but Moyes seems to be a great manager for getting something out of certain players.

Will improve even more with a run of games and a better manager coaching him.

Hope so.

But he had 4 managers at Napoli not fancy him.

Can he add some goals and assists at this level? If not, we'll need someone who can. Imagine if we had someone on that right hand side who can consistently put in that type of performance?

It's a sad indictment of how bad we've been that an effort like that is being lauded the way it is. He put in a solid, hardworking performance with a little sprinkling of quality and you'd think it was a performance for the ages. It was a big step in the right direction but frankly he'll need to do more than that between now and the end of the season to make signing him permanently look like a good idea. If he keeps playing like that we should stay up though, so fingers crossed.

Pretty much how I feel about the team full stop. We've been so starved of anything positive for so long that it's nice to have some small optimism again, and it was good to see him playing well, but I'll reserve judgement for now.

I call it 'van de Beek' syndrome.

I'm guilty of it too;

We need some optimism/confidence, but let's sprinkle a little bit of reality in.

TBF that was one of Moyes’ best traits as manager the first time around, finding players that had “failed” at other clubs, weren’t wanted and picking them up cheap. Arteta and Pienaar the two best examples.
