2024/25 Jesper Lindstrom

I call it 'van de Beek' syndrome.

I'm guilty of it too;

We need some optimism/confidence, but let's sprinkle a little bit of reality in.

A player that David Moyes was already familiar with and had played against with West Ham.

Why should he not be a success at Everton?
Maybe with increasing confidence and improving team performances he will get better still.

Don't want to sound negative as he had his best performance for us on Sunday and he contributed a lot to the win, being heavily involved with a couple of the goals. He also should have got an assist against Villa. So there are some positive signs.

But I think his performance is being overrated. In the 2nd half he was retreating back to his previous self a bit and was becoming a bit of a liability. He had a chance to cross one in the second half and turned back, and shortly after played a terrible pass in to the middle where they nearly broke on us.

I'm still not convinced he will be good enough in this league but Moyes seems to be a great manager for getting something out of certain players.
Listening to Moyes after the match he recognised that Lindstrom was starting to tire, and that was why he was substituted. That will probably explain why he was not as effective in the second half. Hopefully with minutes on the pitch he will steadily improve so that he can contribute for the full 90 minutes.
