Transfer Rumour Jesse Lingard

I've got a bad feeling that Lampard is going to be all over every jarg England fringe player going.

Walcott’s biggest asset was his pace so signing an aging Walcott made no sense

Lingard is a creative midfield who scores and assists, a lot of these peak at around this age so it’s different really
The only 29 years old signing who turn out well was Hanez, I don’t see lingard at the same level. Just another reject from a top 4 side looking for a big fat contract well into the retirement age of 33. He won’t be stupid to limit himself to a 2 years contract, why would he.

Big fat swerve

Don't think so - his contract only finished today.

Suspect the reports linking him to Everton and now Spurs is likely fuelled by his representatives to force the issue with West Ham.
If the lad wanted to play football he would of left UTD years ago.

The arl classic 'i want to fight for my place here'

He is now looking for the next cash cow.

Just seen the kit reveal pictures and realised we already have Dele.

What’s the point in us at all?

Do we just exist to give unwanted players a nice fat contract?

Players to leave Everton on free transfers in recent years:

Tosun
Delph
Kenny
Sigurdsson
King
Walcott
Besic
Bolasie
Williams

Then you have players like Bernard and James who went for nominal sums, due to high wages.

I'm not saying wages were the reason for everyone on that list, but it certainly was a major factor why we couldn't sell. Gomes and Mina are current examples.
In your list you’ve literally got at least 5 or 6 players who were all good signings, who played well for a time and had their careers absolutely ruined by injury. You’ve also got King who was here for 6 months, Kenny who would’ve been on nothing in terms of money.

Walcott and Sigurdsson are the 2 signings that stand out as awful deals from the start in every aspect, that’s fair enough. The rest are either made up of good players that were incredibly unlucky, players that we overpaid for but could’ve still been fine but again mostly injuries ruined them or else players that we didn’t pay much for and weren’t on that high of money.

Tosun was garbo from day 1.

I can’t be arsed to look up ages so this off the top of my head but the below signings definitely improved us:
Gareth Barry
James
Allan
Distin
Saha

Then there are underwhelming signings who probably did improve us too:
Townsend
Walcott
Lennon

lingard is better than our other midfielders, it’s a fact

Ruben Loftus Cheek on loan and we have a good chunk of the World Cup 2018 squad.

Nostalgia is one helluva drug

All of them were declining after a year or 2, again I don’t see lingard will be foolish to accept a 2 years contract. We’re going to repeat our past mistake by carrying his obscene wages for a short term solution.

If we are going to sign a good playmaker at this age, Eriksen is a better option.

I’d take him everyday of the week. He was quality at West Ham. Brings creativity and goals.

This is the exact strategy we should be following, get experienced players on frees that make us competitive now, while investing whatever cash we have on young players with resale value.

If we lost Richie, Delph, Tosun, Gylfi and Kenny and ended up with Tarkowski (free), Lingard (free), Dennis (£20m) and a quality young CM and DM with resale I’d be really happy.

And that isn’t included potential sales of players like Gomes, Kean, Mina, Allan etc…
