Transfer Rumour Jesse Lingard

All of them were declining after a year or 2, again I don’t see lingard will be foolish to accept a 2 years contract. We’re going to repeat our past mistake by carrying his obscene wages for a short term solution.

If we are going to sign a good playmaker at this age, Eriksen is a better option.
That’s the thing though, everyone here who wants him is saying if the deal is right.
I said 2 year deal with an option of a third for around 100kpw is a good deal.
If we pay more for longer I’m with you, it’s a bad deal.

Not sure what he's been on at Utd but he's going to want at least 100k a week & probably more like 120k plus a decent signing on fee. It will be his last big contract & he simply isn't worth it & we will be left holding the baby once again.
Would rather stick with what we have & go 'big' for Eriksen & or Zinchenko where we need the most help plus another CB. Dele, Gordon, Iwobi & Gray will do for now so long as we feed them from an Eriksen or Zinchenko type on a regular basis which was hugely lacking last season.
If he's available at 75-80k (highly unlikely) then maybe but whilst funds are tight it seems a waste to spend it when there are more pressing areas of concern.

Love how fans bang on about learning lessons then start saying Lingard would be a good signing...

If we didn't already have Alli, sure, at the right wage he'd be a decent addition. But we do have Alli and they're pretty much very similar players in that they aren't actually really creative, and they both want to play off the striker.

Lingard wouldn't be an awful addition but at the mooted wage he would be a really worrying signing for where we are now and would show once again no lessons have been learned.

Could you check the stats how many times he and Dele played together for England?

If so...how they did?

He'll sign for us because of Lampard and not moving house

I've got a bad feeling that Lampard is going to be all over every jarg England fringe player going.

Well its good to have certain experienced players locked into the first 11 then bring in youth around them.

While there is no denying he can be a decent player, we will continue to be going for these types and paying them mega money for as long as the current board exists. Things will only change and improve when we do and that wont happen until the board has been cleaned out. If that takes us being taken over by the Kenyon consortium then i welcome it.

Would be gutted if we signed him. Top 6 cast off on his last big contract. No defined position. We need to be more imaginative than this.

Did alright for wham though didn't he? He might be in that category that can't do it under extreme pressure but might at a club like us. Kean/Sandro could be seen as imaginative but that didn't particularly work out either. We just need someone who can score 10 goals next season and be better than Rondon. Does he fit that...probably.

West Ham who finished in Europe want him but we’re clearly too good for him despite almost getting relegated and having no goals or creativity in the team whatsoever.

I can’t get over people’s mad opinions sometimes. People don’t like Lingard because he’s a bit of a knob off the pitch, look at our record signing ffs, there’s a lot worse in football than someone who spends a lot of his time on Instagram.
Where does he play for us given the way we set up ?

He would improve us cos we are crap but his age is a no, we have to learn. He won't be free, signing on fee and huge wages and massive ego
