Why shouldn't they use social media? Don't you realise that the vast majority of young adults in our society use social media? If Jesse Lingard was a barber, do you not think he'd use social media?

You are aware that you yourself are using social media to frown upon somebody else using it?

The next generation of players are all children of the 21st century, I suggest you should get used to it.

I have no problem with players using social media, if they deliver in the jobs they are paid very well to do. Other than a good 6 month spell a year and half ago, has that been the case with JL at any other point during the 10+ years of his professional career??

If you want us to sign 29 year old "21st century child" who is very average, has coasted through his career but now wants a big payday, then that's fine. I'd rather us devote our limited resources towards younger players who actually want to be here and want to be the best professionals they can be, not tiktok dancers or wasters who are only here for the final pay day we so willingly hand out.

You've missed the point, entirely.

The criticism of Jesse Lingard is not simply "he spends too long posting mindless merde on social media".

The very justified criticism of Jesse Lingard is thus: If he wants to earn £150k+ per week as a professional footballer why doesn't he actually devote time and effort to delivering the goods as a professional footballer, instead of spending too long posting mindless merde on social media.

If he slotted 15 goals and made another dozen assists every season, I'd happily have him at Goodison. But he never has and never will, because... he spends too long posting mindless merde on social media and not enough time actually improving himself as a professional footballer.
