He's not a defensive midfielder.

I'm sure i read somewhere he is more a DM that a AM ????
He played in a 4-4-2 at Liege. His partner was Steven Defour and Fellaini was probably the more defense minded of the two. Agree with TB though, he certainly isn't an out an out DM.

Will be very interesting to see David Moyes handle the situation when everyone´s fit and if J&o stays beyond this season. It will be a scrap between Cahill, Fellaini, Saha, Yakubu, Jo and hopefully also James Vaughan.

My choice at the moment would be Cahill and Jo.

Assuming we're playing a lone striker, could we not go with Cahill and Fellaini sitting just behind him (Jo)? Or would that be too disjointed?

Neville/Ossie ......... Arteta .......... Pienaar

............. .......Cahill ...... Fellaini

...............................Jo

Did you just put Neville on the left wing?

I've said before. Mikel does more defensive minded work then Neville. He sits deep and runs the show but he also gets stuck in and he covers alot of ground and knows when to stay and when to go. He is our answer at the moment but i'd love some height to be added to our midfield. A defensive midfielder in the mould of M'Bia would be brilliant, and then we can move Mikel to centre midfield and give alot more freedom.

At the moment though, Neville and Mikel is the answer with Cahill being the 2nd striker.

I'd love VDM to be in place of Osman, really give us some width and quality on the wing, but it won't happen.

Rodwell is potentially that man in my opinion, obviously he'll take a few years to get to that level. The potential is there though.

He will take a few years, so we need someone in this summer. It's what we are desperatley lacking. A quality defensive midfielder.

That and a winger would be nice. Oh and Jo.

Mikel seems scared to get to advanced recently. I mean yesterday he went on a few crazys runs and he took the piss at times, he was a joy to watch. He reminded me of Riquleme in his prime, little dances all over the pitch, i just wish he would let a few more go. We know he can hit the ball, why doesnt he have a few more pops.

We always wanted to get wide yesterday, im not knocking it, i would just like to see Mikel running at players like Ronaldo does, i defo think hes got that in his locker.

Said it before, would love to see Moyes give it a try, to sign Mark van Bommel from Bayern Munich. Will most probably leave Bayern munich on a free transfer this summer. Bayern want him to sign a new one year contract, but MvB is holding out for two years. I´m positive Moyes could get two or three more years out of him. Would be a great role model for Jack Rodwell as he has a lot of experience.

Also the RS would definately start to hate him as much as they hate Tim Cahill.:D

I hate him, cant recall why, i just dislike him very mucho.

I would like to see us try and get that Turan from Galastarry. And maybe Topal as well.
Point proven and you're not even a RS.

Maybe because he turned down Everton, when he left PSV? Thought that was a shame also, but couldn't really blame him at the time. There was interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter and Bayern Munich for him, as Everton were still seen as a badly run club back then.

Just checked his age on Wiki, and he's 31 now. So I can see why BM don't want to go above a year. Moyes went in for him before and he turned us down. So Moyes must rate the guy. On a free transfer with sensible wages I'd take him. But I would hate to give more than a 2 year contract to him.

Agreed. Don't think anyone would want to give more than a 2 year contract to a 31 year old. Maybe with an option for a third. Over these 2 years Jack Rodwell could develop as his long time succesor. Could certainly learn a lot from van Bommel.

Agreed. It can be a great plus to a youngster to be mentored by an older player. And VB has the pedigree that Rodwell could look up to.
