If we can wage dump half of Gomes, we may be able to swing it as an actual buy. I tend to believe the claims that Watford feels 'keep' is the prudent play under the circumstances. Might have more luck in the winter window with the package we offered, if we want the player and Watford ends up mired mid-table with little chance at the playoff or at getting relegated.

Throwing an extra 10 million at a player we maybe don't value that much. is the sort of behaviour that has gotten us into the mess we've been in the last year or so,

Seems more than happy to stay at Watford, I like him and he is a serious talent but he had the choice of a few clubs this summer and has chosen to stay in the Championship. Maybe he just likes being about London or something like that.
