Sorry Grouch, don't agree.... The lads stepped up and is growing in confidence... He's only going to improve , he's gonna make mistakes along the way but that's part of the game.... Did you see the howler from courtois today ?? .... Give Robles a run til the end of the season I say... Regardless of results....only way he will gain confidence.
It's a confidence position, I agree.

Out of the two we have, I'd stick with Robles currently, when both are fit.

Basically I want Big Nev quality, but then is there even a goalie of that standard in the game at the moment? Perhaps too harsh on Joel, considering current GK standards?

Joel is looking more confident every match you can see that by the way he is starting to catch the ball instead of punching it. I hope he keeps his place when Howard is fit cause the way Howard has been he simply does not deserve to be first choice keeper.

Tee thing is to get someone World Class like Nev these days, unless you get lucky and find them from young, you need what...10-20mill? We can't pay that much surely.
But I agree, I would prefer an experience World Class keeper in the team.

Don't forget, we were offered Joe Hart for free, Moyes turned him down.

Ok he's not Southall standard, but he's better than the two we currently have.

We weren't offered him for free. We scouted him along with every other club in the country.

On 30 November 2005, the Shropshire Star newspaper reported that Everton goalkeeping coach Chris Woods had been present at Town's previous league match, a 4–3 loss at Rochdale. Boss Gary Peters said "Everton have been to watch him, but you could say the same about Arsenal, Chelsea and every other team in the Premiership". Speculation about his future continued for the duration of the season, and with the presence of their goalkeeping coach Tim Flowers at several matches, Manchester City became the most likely of his suitors.

I appreciate that he's taken his chance at the #1 slot well, but I feel we need a better goalkeeper than either him or Howard.

Don't ask me who or where from, I don't know.

I don't think Nev was a top class keeper when he first played for us, Joel has the makings of a excellent keeper, I like how he comes off his line to catch & punch ( unlike Howard ), also his handling this spell has been a 100 %,unlike his starts last season, where he was punching, catchable balls.
We also have a very good prospect in Griffiths, who I watched several times in the youth team.
For me get shot of Howard, who makes too many mistakes & costs us at least 15 points a season & keep both these young keepers in the 1st team squad.

Yeah, I remember him as being quite ordinary with occasional glimpses of talent. Luckily, he had enough in him to reach the heights.

Just because Southall looked dodgy for a few games don't think Joel will go on to be world class. He won't. He lacks presence and for a huge guy lacks confidence to deal with high balls coming into a crowd. He has got better no doubt but I will be disappointed if he is our number 1 next season.

I heard differently (in addition to the above) but fair enough.

Again, fair enough and good points there.

He looked dodgy again in the first half yesterday and would have cost us a goal if it wasn't for a great clearance from Jags, fair enough he settled down in the second half but he's about as reliable as an American weather man predicting snow.
