Sorry Grouch, don't agree.... The lads stepped up and is growing in confidence... He's only going to improve , he's gonna make mistakes along the way but that's part of the game.... Did you see the howler from courtois today ?? .... Give Robles a run til the end of the season I say... Regardless of results....only way he will gain confidence.

And at the end of season? Assuming Howard leaves, what do we bring in? Another young keeper with no experience or a top quality experienced keeper?
Depends on how Joel goes on really doesn't it ? Top keepers are hard to find or cost huge money.... We got a very young lad who has potential to become what he wants to become.... If he's not up to scratch then we need to replace.... He's playing well at the moment and getting better every game, what's wrong with sticking with him ? Remember how fans slated Coleman once ?
Literally will be done with Martinez if Howard comes straight back in

No problem waiting until end of end of season. But can't knock back a top keeper for a speculative possibility surely.
Literally. I'm like Rodgers at this point, full of waffle. But Robles has been the better keeper than Howard at any point this season.
I agree, but it's pointless shelling out on a keeper we may not need.

Southall, Schmeical, Buffon and dare I say evem Martyn you felt that when forwards were bearing down on goal on a 1-1 situation they werent favourites to score.
Howard you feel will let in every shot. Robles has looked good because Howard is just so bad.
This Nyland would have been picked up by now if he was top quality you would have thought? International young low salary and 3mil...
Id be going for Butland myself and letting Howard go to mls tomorrow.

It's really good to see him playing with some confidence. Seems a really quite bloke in general so having some backing from the players (they whole team were so good with him after the Hammers game) and the fans has obviously really helped, starting to bark orders, coming off his line and catching the ball.
Most importantly he's taken the errors out of his game, he doesn't worry me he's going to stuff anymore. He has made half a dozen proper good saves.
But he hasn't really been the difference between winning and losing point, he hasn't made any real world class saves. He's been everything you want from a back up keeper, not stuffing up, doing everything that's asked of him and I'd be fine with him playing out the rest of the season as first choice if we don't sign a new keeper but I just don't think he's a top five club keeper. Whilst it's something we can work on his 1v1's are really quite poor and I just don't know if his agile enough or has good enough reflex saves to be a really good shot stopper.
If Roberto knows Howard is going to leave then we've got to sign a new first choice keeper before the window shuts, simples. If Howard is going to stay here for the rest of the season then just wait signing a new keeper untill the summer window. No point having Joel, Howard and a new first choice keeper all on the books. The season (but the Europa League) is already a write off and Joel or Howard will be fine to keep out the rest of the season. Let them fight it out and see if one can hit some form.
