Joel Robles

I feel like we're all trying to convince ourselves it won't happen. Looking at the facts and using logic and common sense, there's not a chance you drop him, but even still that nagging doubt won't go away...

Even if he does get a run for say the next 6 weeks ill still always fear him getting dropped for the big dope, always.

Someone might have already said it but is it a coincidence that our best defensive performances have come when Robles has been in goal, and dare I say it we've looked better without Stones?

Same feeling here mate. As I said earlier this week, there's absolutely no legitimate reason in the world to drop him for Howard. Hope Martinez has finally seen the light. As you say though, 'still that nagging doubt won't go away...'

It's down to Robles. We've looked just as solid as we did today at times this season when Stones has played.

I'm not saying Stones is the reason but I definitely think he's played with the burden of being England's only 'ball playing defender' and feels he needs to live up to that, therefore at times doing too much which has put us under unnecessary pressure. He will no doubt be a quality player.
I agree tho Robles has definitely made a big difference to the defence.

The big worry for me now is that if Robles makes a bad mistake which leads to us conceding a goal then Martinez will revert to Howard again and ruin Joel's confidence.

Considering Howard has made countless errors this season, I'd like to think Martinez would give Joel an equal opportunity to keep his place but I wouldn't put it past Martinez to use it as an excuse to put Howard back in the team.

Let's hope that won't be the case and he has finally learned a lesson here. My biggest issue with Martinez is him not learning from things.

We've got Robles

Joel Robles

I just don't think you understand

He's Martinez's man

He's better than Oli Kahn

We've got Joel Robles

I'm worried about Howard being brought back in. Joel kept 3 clean sheets last year and was dropped for Howard to come back in and concede 6 in the next 3 league games.

One thing that is different is the venom against Howard now is out in the open mate, can't be brushed aside and is very much a factor at games, even Martinez must see that by now
