That could be a bit of headworking though to make sure he doesn't get complacent? I recall Big nev saying that no matter how well he played in a game, whenever he came off the pitch Howard Kendall would pull him up on the single error he might have made. Maybe Koeman feels he is an easy going lad and needs to be kept on the edge to perform at his best? Lie the thing he said about Davies ( if he starts to think he is the big man at Everton I will bring him down to earth). Sounds very much like headworking to me?

The best way is to keep clean sheets - the down fall of RM was is persistence to play an out of form Timmy Howard!
look at Robles stats this season in a handful of games he makes the top ten!

Meh, i think Koeman likes this type of attitude - "i'm mad that i'm not playing but i'm going to work harder etc".
Would be a bigger problem if Joel accepted his place on the bench like it didn't bother him.
