Well, if you want to force the issue, I vote with Welton for much the same reasons. To be honest, I'm swithering as well, hate the git, but for 3m (as per the poll) the gamble might pay off.

But I think the most likely scenario is that Timbo would end up sorting him out.

Good one. You mean little Timmy will have Joey pictures on the corner flags at Goodison as a simple reminder to stay the course????

I wanted him in the eleven around the 70th minute against chelsea on sunday.

i vote yes, lets turn all that bloody minded thuggery on the opposition.

I voted yes, based soley on his talent. I am sure Moyes is good character judge, and can control him. I think Stuart Pearce was in over his head at City, and the stresses that stem from that could have allowed Barton kind of a free role to do whatever he pleased, so instead of being proactive with Barton, he was reactive, with that ban. If he was a good manager, he would have been in everybodys [Poor language removed] and not allowed it to happen.

I voted no, basically for the same reasons as all others have - a bad egg. But it would definitely depend on the cash paid, I'd not spend a penny over 3.5 for him.

He's got far too much anger stored up for a lad his size, lets face it if he wasn't a footballer, he'd be locked up like his brother!

No. If he had his trouble on the pitch only then I'd be fine with that as aggression on the pitch is ok with me. All of his problems have been off the pitch though and that suggests something I don't think our club wants or needs.

Couldn't have put it any better...

team spirit? bad egg? negative influence?

we have had vdm in the squad for 2 seasons, and his bad habits and attitude havnt rubbed off on any of the other Professionals.

maybe a new start with none of his city baggage is what he needs.

Agreed Suits, i think our team spirt could be a good influence on him rather than the other way round. Actually his on the field discplinary record is very good.

You make a very good point about his influence on others I think we dont give the players, good charicters in the squad, and the manger enough credit in terms of how to deal barton if he act the mick!

He a player you want around 70 minutes against chelsea

Suits, you're having a laugh if you really think you can compare VDM to Barton.

VDM has had his issues to be sure but he isn't a thug like Barton.

No, I think I'd rather have VDM than Barton.

Right lets settle this.

Barton is a bad egg, Fernandes is too expensive. So who can we get to strengthen our midfield.

Be realistic now...

Whats wrong with Fernandes for another years loan deal, a position favoured by his masters. I've already suggested that BT or VDM, apparently both violent bum flashers who have no respect for anyone, well if compared to Barton they must be, would be preferable to the aforementioned Barton, jail fodder in the making.

IMO, humble as it is, NO TO BARTON
