John Stones transfer saga

The cynic in me thinks the board may have played a masterstroke here. Get Stones to hand in request, reject it, look great, fans forget about lack of signings for a bit and window closes without any major signings. Also makes us look stronger in media.

The Board start looking ok when they start showing some ambition and invest in the players we badly need over the next few days.

Honestly though, I hope you know as Evertonians that we all have a moral duty to lamp one on Paul Stretford if you ever see him in public.

That horrible rat shouldn't be allowed within walking distance of Goodison or Finch Farm.

Been worse than useless in all this. Reread his statement the other day: basically saying he has no feelings on the matter and Stones should be left alone and not swayed.

Another example of his disastrous captaincy.

You see, I read Jags statement totally different to you. I may be wrong, but here's my spin on it: Jags has told him privately he'd be better off staying for now, but he's not gonna be seen to be putting pressure on him through the media.

I hope that somehow we can keep hold of Stones, not just for now, but for many years to come and see Everton return to the pinnacle of English football. I say this with a view to future generations of fans. My father has sadly found out that his cancer is inncurrable, having spread beyond it's initial diagnosis. Beyond my generation nobody in my family supports Everton. The lack of success and my siblings marrying into families of United fans makes it increasingly difficult.

When we are long gone Everton will still remain, I just hope she gets the treatment deserved rather than being ridiculed by the likes of Jason Cundy and other no mark mouthpieces of the media.

Heartbroken.
Sorry to hear that about your dad.

Is that John Stones agent? If so, how did he get his claws into Stones or has he always been his agent?

Chelsea have made a very clear MO as of late of keeping targets secret and then swooping in hard and fast before making noise in the media. If Chelsea, in this occasion, have been leaking to and manipulating the media then I would be quite dissapointed and somewhat embarassed but it would be out of recent character.

Given our stance do you think it likely that we were the ones who notified the media?

I dont see how it could be construed as pressure to say: "As a club we're looking to keep our best players and build for the future so obviously the manager is resistant to losing John".

That woud have been the right thing (the skipper thing) to do. That places no pressure on the player, it merely places the club's ambitions forward for consideration in all this. That armband means he represents Everton.

Instead he stated that he didn't have an opinion and we all must leave Stones to it and respect his decision. Which is a pretty insulting statement.

Never in a million years is he a good captain for this club. As said above in the thread in relation to the last captain, Neville was a pain on the pitch with some woeful performances, but he knew how to represent his club at all times.
