John Stones transfer saga

I dont get this at all.

Paul Joyce and Chris Bascombe; two merseyside based journos and unofficial Everton/Liverpool mouthpieces state the letter said the club have no intention to sell at any price this window.

Why are people ignoring this?

What they are saying isn't quite that at all for neither have seen the letter they are reporting what they have been told the letter says . It's really simple all the club have to do is release the letter without comment .

I disagree, Everton have nothing to prove - they've made their position clear. If the letter is contrary to Everton's stated position then let Chelsea publish it.

As mentioned above, they didn't get Rooney. And I'm talking saying something in response to every little thing they say. Something to what Cahill has said today for example.

Oh and LOL at the Torres comment at the bottom of the article!
But if we respond everytime they say something then surely that legitimises them talking abiut it in public because they can claim "well I needed to respond". We'll have to make a comment at our next press conference but to do so outside of that means we're dancing to their tune.

As suggested by the Rooney situation don't think any statement we make, either public or private, or how many times we repeat it will make Mourinho stop talking about making bids or submitting gradually higher bids. Even if we genuinely won't sell at any price he'd still keep doing both in the hope that Stones puts pressure on us to move because, as you pointed out, this is really their only window they have without competition from other clubs and he has nothing to lose by doing so.

And the reality is that there probably is a price we will sell at, same as for all Mourinho's posturing there is a price he would sell Matic or Hazard for. So unfortunately think we just have to watch it play out.

The Torres bit made me giggle as well, not least because that was one transfer move Chelsea really got wrong!

That's where we are going to have to agree to differ

Here is what RM said

"First of all, we pride ourselves in playing a certain way and educating our young players in a manner that means they are always going to get attention from elsewhere. That is a compliment, a footballing compliment.

The other side is the disappointment in seeing a football club making it (the bid for Stones) so open, I don’t think that is the way we do it at Everton.

We don’t speak about a player when he is registered at another club and there is no issue from our point of view - John Stones is an Everton player full stop.

Yes he did say a couple of other things about talking to players but if that is all that is in the public domain I am not quite sure anything is really clear

It's clear when he stated no need to sell a player on a 4 year contract!
