John Stones transfer saga

It's called negotiation, never let the opposition know what you are thinking.

I think if we're definitely not selling we should come out and say so, and blast the media speculation. I'm not normally one to get wound up by th so called 'bullying' tactics, but this has already gone too far and what Chelsea are doing verges on tapping up. It's a disgrace.

Absolutely not - I don't think we'll sell him to Chelsea this summer, but if we wished to do so tactics currently are spot on. The power of silence is hugely under-valued in negotiation.

By telling them 'what we want' I didn't necessarily mean a price.

We could well just want them to go away. So tell them.

We already have done so though.

I mean an official statement. I don't think we're doing anything wrong per se, but think that, if indeed we have no true intention of selling him - at whatever price - this summer, then it would go some way to stopping the media frenzy.

I dont get this at all.

Paul Joyce and Chris Bascombe; two merseyside based journos and unofficial Everton/Liverpool mouthpieces state the letter said the club have no intention to sell at any price this window.

What are people ignoring this?

If thats true...What the hell is Chelsea doing?

Because the tabloid media being ruled by the Chelsea press office are ignoring that and trying to change the narrative. It's one of the most shameless things I've ever seen. Up there with the Rooney saga.

If we were going to do that we should have done so a couple of days ago. However now there's no need to, the "special one" is getting into a lather and Chelsea are looking desperate - let it continue.

Just by the by, my gut feeling is Stones is going nowhere, but and sadly it's a big but (hahaha!), if a certain amount is bid, then history suggests we will accept it. Well not 'we' them lot in suits.
