Yeah...that's the link Joey66 first mentioned on here today which weve all quoted. Its The National, a UAE paper. They've lifted it off the Press Association wire by the looks of it so they wont have misquoted.
UAE paper, however......

I'm sure that's just a coincidence though :coffee:

we will play hard ball all summer and then give in on transfer deadline day, won't have time to sign anyone as a replacement and the money will magically disappear never to be seen again.

you all know this is going to happen.
Yes and Besic will be moved into the defence

UH OH! i see brentford are already spending their part of the transfer fee...

Brentford have signed Denmark international Lasse Vibe from IFK Goteborg for an undisclosed fee.
The forward, 28, has agreed a three-year deal at Griffin Park and becomes the Championship club's eighth signing of the summer.
He made his international debut for Denmark in 2014 and has won a total of nine caps.

all but a done deal im afraid

Not understanding the link here.

We signed him from Baaaaaaarns-lay mate.

Feck.

I didn't realise this "former mentor" bloke had surfaced in a Middle Eastern newspaper.

We really are contributing to this circus ourselves by discussing what a bloke most of us have never heard off is in all likelihood misquoted as saying in a newspaper most of us have never read
How can you 'misquote' sending a text ?

Someone upto naughties me thinks.

Can I just ask, has there been any further Development since the first bid or is that still where we're at ?

was just wondering as this thread is now ten times longer than it was and I've not been reading any papers.

For me its quite simple...

1. Quote the price we want to achieve... aka £50 million
2. Put it openly out to the media in every way that if any club is willing to meet the price they have the club's blessing to approach the player.
3. If John wants to move, respect his wishes
4. spend the money wisely and strengthen in multiple areas

All this letting the money clubs dictate is nonsense, we have what they want, we are in the driving seat for negotiation. Every time they try to unsettle the player, slam them aggressively in the rags....

They cannot steam roll everyone, leave the big clubs to pick of the likes of Liverpool

I honestly don't think there's any need to name a price publicly for 2 reasons

1. It would put undue pressure on Stones
2. It would show that we were willing to sell.

I firmly believe behind closed doors Chelsea will know exactly what kind of fee it would take to prize him away. My gut feeling was 37m but after the way Everton have angrily reacted to the initial bid I would say they would be looking for 40+.

If they want Stones they are going to have to pay absolutely ridiculous money and in turn instantly pile on the pressure on Stones of he did leave. It's not showing a lack of ambition on his part if he stays with us. In fact it would show a very clever young man who appreciates the environment he is learning in, alongside good players, with a management and fanbase fully behind him and willing to back him when he does make mistakes.

That's just how I see things though mate
