Obviously want the lad to stay but I think it's just a question of are they willing to pay now the 40 mill or so that chelsea know will get for him in a year or so ? As usual with these situations, I find it hard to see how we lose...

Think he will stay no problem, but expect chelsea to come back in on transfer deadline day,in the last hour or so,and have sky saying we are selling etc, etc, the usual rubbish

I rememember the days when John Ebbrell was burdened with the tag "future captain of Everton and England".....:)

Is this type of hyperbole unique to Evertonians?

I can't recall the fans of any other club annointing one of their young playes with such grandiosity.

Course they do, that's what a good youth system is all about.

I can't recall seeing a better young centre back...

It's a "Merseyside" thing.

That's because some of them are trying to buy Everton's young players with the logic 'he could be future Chelsea and England captain'. Weren't the United fans calling Phil Jones the next Duncan Edwards?

Not to my knowledge.

And any that did would surely gave been put in their place by the vast majority of their fellow fans

The Captain shouts intrigue me. Like, no one knows if he is Captain material, or even if he is arsed about being one.

Cracking player/prospect mind.
