John Stones transfer saga

I would keep him for another year. He would be a year better and stronger. We would have paid off some of the money we owe Chelsea by that stage so we would have something to spend. Another year and maybe big European teams might come in for him. We would get more money and wouldn't have to face him in matches.

I think people are being overly optimistic if they think Chelsea won't come back in with another bid. Their media campaign was too over the top for them to give up without another bid to test if it had any affect.

Hopefully we'll be able to keep him though, if anything just because his price will go up even more the longer we wait.

Pardon me for not taking the time to open all these links you have devoted so much time to researching, but that seems to be a bunch of journos writing articles......plus their former manage who once made a silly statement about Jones's potential.

I notice Phil McNulty's name in a blog as well as newspapers.

You were referring to what their actual fans thought about him.

And whilst I daresay there would have been the odd idiot among the OT faithful who thought him the "new Duncan Edwards" or some other such twaddle, there are probably as many United fans who believe the earth is flat and that the moon is made from cheese.

Ferguson did.

I actually think Phil Jones is a top player, and will be an excellent centre half when he peaks.

Ferguson was their manager.

The debate is about what their fans thought.

And there were not too many of them thinking Jones was a new Duncan Edwards.

Only reminds me mate. Not the same.

Sky pushing something that isn't really there. I know they've bid but last few days nothing. Not a peep.
Waiting for last 15mins of transfer window allowing just enough time for us not to replace him. Yes my cup is half empty these days.

The way he coped when Oviedo broke his leg, when more seasoned pros walked away with a grimace, suggests to me that he'll be one of those pros that others will look up to and take their lead from.

One of his first starts, he was screaming at Distin and Baines to get into position. That took balls for a rookie, his reading of the game is brilliant.

I will be devastated if he goes this summer.

So much time :D
You mean the 4mins between your post and mine? Yeah, it was properly gruelling.

I'm aware you're (hopefully!) just on the windup - but please try harder. After all, you really think all those journos, plus the likes of Alex Ferguson and Bobby Charlton could refer to him as "the next Duncan Edwards" and "potentially the best Manchester United player of all time" without the fans also thinking and saying the same?

Anyway. Enough feeding the troll.
