John Stones transfer saga

I think the barrier is higher. In around £40m they would be forced to consider it.

Your not the first to mention this figure.. I guess its a sellers market, with all the TV money SKY and BT money sloshing about. I can see the defense in selling between £30 to £40 millionish.

What would a 21 year old John Terry be worth to Chelsea?

It's not in our interest to sell him, certainly not for that figure. We could command that at any point in the next five years.

We'd need to replace him, and we're already needing another centre half.

Precisely this @TheFinnFan .

You don't sell someone unless its in your interest to do so.

Exclusive: Everton's John Stones wanted Chelsea move to happen months ago
CHELSEA target John Stones told Everton at the end of the season that he was ready to move to a big club.

Sunday Express Sport
can reveal that the England player, aware of growing interest from Premier League sides in the top four, informed manager Roberto Martinez that he wanted to further his career elsewhere if the opportunity arose.

But Everton are insisting on a huge fee for the 21-year-old believed to be £36 million – a figure which has put the brakes on Chelsea’s overtures.

Chelsea’s opening bid was £20 million and it’s understood they are prepared to go up to around £30 million with various add ons.

Everton are holding out for £36 million because the defender’s former club Barnsley are due 15 per cent of any fee which could mean the League One club banking more than £5 million for a player they sold for just £3 million.

It’s why the Goodison Park board have upped the price so that they can clear £30 million.

They were hoping that Manchester City would also prompt a bidding war with Chelsea but although there has been a firm enquiry from the Eithad there has so far been no firm offer.

Stones, though holds the key to one of the summer transfer window’s biggest deals because he now wants to join Jose Mourinho’s Premier League champions believing his game would improve at Stamford Bridge in addition to enjoying a hefty increase in his pay packet.

Everton know that to block a transfer to one of England’s major forces would leave them with an unhappy player.

Stones feels that being part of the Chelsea unit would also enhance his chances of becoming an England regular as the Three Lions close in on the European Championship finals in France next summer.

Still, I reckon he will be with us on the 2nd September. Many had tight sphincters over Barkley, in the past!

Mourinho is a busted flush with his media games these days, in many ways he a classic modern troll, dont feed him in the media and he cannot play in his areana. Personally, I think everyone Everton, are dealing with the situation well.

Baines as well. Like you said Martinez or the club getting involved in a media spat over it just plays into Chelsea's and Mourhino's hands. You could tell he was getting frustrated by his later comments and the need to get players like Cahill involved

If Stones goes for our valuation of £38M I wouldn't be too upset. Get Evans £7M, Van Dijk £10M, Austin £14M and we would still have £7M left even if we met all their askingprices without haggling a bit. Sure Evans and Van Dijk are older but we would then have 3 CD with lots of experience, an extra proven striker and some money.

Why not just set fire to the money?

Cos if your buying those players, you might as well.

Wonder when a footy player will actually sue a paper one day for defamation of character, cos effectively with his interview the other week stating how he wanted to learn, develop and STAY at Everton this article has just flat outright branded him as a liar

why don't we as a club sue every single article like this? it would fund our summer business every season ffs. It's utter bullsh*t printing with no comments whatsoever that could produce unrest at the club. Not so much for english players, but if you've got a foreigner coming over who's got broken english and read articles like this in the wrong way and start to cause a stir with the manager it could lead to a massively negative affect in relations.

We'll keep hold of him this window... we'll hold onto him until he has his first 'pop' at Hibbo's wife at an end of season party... Then Boberto will make the call, 'It is as you said José... I think he is ready to fill the boots of that adulterous racist.'
