John Stones transfer saga

We should be in no hurry to sell, the TV money should stop any need to sell, if Stones is happy here and everything he's said says he is then we should keep him here, no better place for him to develop.

I'd like to keep him for the next 2 years, enjoy him as a fan, then he can go with our blessing to a club that challenges for top honours.

His value is only going to increase in the next two years, there will be a lot of clubs after him with big offers if we just hold on a bit.

See I just don't get this. In the 2014/15 year player sales were virtually nil as opposed to a profit of what £28m in 2013/14 .Purchases as we know increased significantly and as a result amortisation will have ilikewise increased on top of that the board warned in the last set of accounts that there was uncertainty around borrowings being maintained at what was then current levels

Other than the odd or should I put small increases in revenue where in the 2014/15 year will the money come from to compensate for the significant drop in player trading income? From 2016/17 I will agree that the TV money will rise but where is the money coming from to buy for the 2015/16 season and indeed 2016/17 season unless from sales?

I suspect we may run a small shareholder deficit but it is virtually eliminated, gate revenues will be up, tv revenues from Europa will also have increased and we will show a small but significant operating profit (in the context of the deficit)

Relating to Stones though, the issue is not a financial one for the club. There is no doubt in my mind that if the club wished to acquire debt to finance player purchases it could do so on similar terms or better than previously.

Maybe drop an email to the 18 clubs who have spent more than us and ask them?

But BK is always the same a few signings like we have done and then when the season starts he releases the funds to save on the wages always the same. why pay wages pre season on expensive signings!
Thats his logic he's skint you know!

The shareholder defecit is likely to have been eliminated by the end of the 2014/15 accounting period (31st May 2015). Besides which the club has managed to run with a deficit for many years covered by increased borrowings and player sales.

There is absolutely no financial requirement to sell Stones it is purely a question of Stones desire to stay and the Board's commitment to retaining our most promising player assets.
That was the point I was attempting to get across. The increased TV revenue has improved financials to the point where Everton can make pure footballing decisions unencumbered of financial 'stress' considerations.

NB: I'm still thinking however that the shareholder deficit will exist at May 31 2015... but I'm happy to be proven wrong (it wouldn't be the first time!!)

Distan putting the boot in now saying one day he end up at a BIG club well does no say much for him as he was with us for an age!
I hate to say it but he's telling the truth. In modern day football we are a decent club but far from a big club. Blame the board for that in many different ways . They have failed us ever since 1985 through to Johnson and the current board. Our history only matters to us as fans sadly .

The guys an absolute idiot. Can't believe the send off he got, yeah he was a solid player for a few years, but he had digs at the fans at every opportunity.

Seems like he's lost the plot after Martinez correctly dropped him for being absolutely useless and can't wait to stick the boot in.

We will lose Stones sooner or later, all we can hope for is that it won't be this season.

Chelsea has got enough centre halves though. A real rookie mistake by ''the great'' Mourinho if his plan is to play both Zouma and Stones in his starting XI. Not saying they're bad players, but Chelsea won't win the PL, which surely is their target every season, with two youngsters as centre backs.

Stones will play more here and that will be better for his development, hopefully he sees it that way too.

It's amazing how many clueless people want an opinion on it in the media, just to get their oar in on a topical subject.

Haven't a clue any of them. They genuinely think around £25m is a fair offer for Stones.
What a player is worth is dependant of loads of variables not just the current ability of the player. Age, contract, financial position of the potential seller and the damage a sale might do to that clubs reputation. Stones is 21 and will only get better, he is contracted for a further 4.5 years. He plays for a premiership club boosted by a huge new TV deal and anxious to still be seen as a 'big' club. With all this in mind its hard to think of a figure that Everton would consider too good to refuse without any input from Stones himself. i genuinely don't believe we would accept anything but silly money (£40m+) unless Stones himself forces the issue with an official transfer request.

Would he lose a lot of respect from the fans if he did ask for a transfer, can Everton block his request, if so how?.

I'm not bothered if stones does hand in a transfer request ( if he is going to leave anyway) because he loses out in his cut of the fee. Don't places get a loyalty payment if they don't put in a transfer request ?
