John Stones transfer saga

Agree. That was weird.

Very weird mate.

Really?

Been saying on here for ages now, he's never said he's not for sale. "He's an Everton player, full stop" etc isn't saying he's not for sale.

We have a price we'll accept, and I'm very confident the potential sale is delaying our own activity. Our incomings change if we sell him.

He never expanded on it either, just went on the usual answer about footballing compliments. It's not overly concerning as he hasn't started making noises about leaving, but I think it's fair to say that Chelsea did what they wanted and have turned his head enough.
Yeah mate. I think we all appreciated that it would affect Stones in some way, because it's been so intense and public. But I really didn't expect him to air it out in a press conference and you can see the inevitable "Stones head turned by Chelsea interest" on the horizon already.

This is my thinking.

Just, in my opinion, the first time we've gone public and basically said he's not for sale. Either way, selling him is playing a dangerous game with a fanbase ready to turn on the owners at the slightest opportunity.

Matt Law at The Telegraph is already getting a huge exclusive on Stones demanding a transfer story ready...

Just been an absolute buzz kill to the start of the season and none of Bobby's quotes from that presser are reassuring in any way.

Personally I thought Roberto had been fairly straight up and down on the issue in the past, but today was the first time he seemed to try to dodge the question, to give a half answer and make out it was out of his hands.

His demeanour has certainly changed a bit, in my opinion.

Is it? This is a fanbase that has tolerated the very worst kinds of behaviour from the board - from Rooney to Lescott/Arteta/Fellaini - and that's just on the transfer side!

Agreed, but the animosity towards the board seems higher now to me than it has been for a while. An awful lot of people, in my opinion, would be tipped over the edge by Stones going.

I'm not exactly a fan of this board either but:

Lescott was forcing a move and being a tosser about it as well. We got £24mil for him.

Fellaini was always going to go. The club handled it really well and ended up getting £27mil for him.

The other two I agree on, though if we had got some replacements in for Arteta it wouldn't be as bad.

Just get him sold and lets start buying players.

This summer really has to be the ultimate underlining of how rank Everton's owners are: they get £35M in through the door to hand to the manager like every other PL club, but they keep hold of it themselves and allow Chelsea to dictate our destiny.

Ok then: sell him and move on.

That's the way we roll at Everton, I'm afraid. There is no such thing as moving onto firmer footing with 'cash injections' from external sources like the tv deal. It disappears down the black hole along with any potentially top class players we unearth.

i think he will be gone before end of transfer window, less confident in RM bringing in quality replacement, as said earlier we need 2 CH , hes had all summer when he previously stated he had targets and would be getting them in early , not happened , losing faith in him massively .
Evans and Van Dijk

He's gone isn't he.

If it's any less than 35M get your boo's ready for fraudster kenwright and his gang of merry carpet baggers. Anybody who still supports them or makes excuses for them after this is a disgrace.

apparently sky using the words "when" he goes - these media people know more than we give them credit for, they'll have been briefed he's off

you aren't thinking of leaving me are you?
of course not, what makes you ask?
just that you are so gorgeous, you could have anyone?
well, I don't want to
but if they asked?
thats up to them
so you are thinking about it?
never entered my head till now
what about that Jose guy?
hes a nice guy but I am happy with you
so you fancy him
I can see why people would fancy him, doesn't mean anything
sounds like you would leave if he was interested
starting to sound like you want me to
If you not interested in me maybe
well, okay if thats how you feel about it, bye
knew it
