John Stones transfer saga

I don't believe for one minute that the Board would give Martinez the £40 mill to spend. We would end up with 2 or 3 lesser players and the first team would be weaker as a result.

Yet in 12 months time (if we were to sell) we could see 50 + for him. So regardless of how late it is, i'ts not really acceptable.

This on toast. Can't believe people would even entertain 40mill. His value this time next year will be 50mill plus easily.

Martinez has said all the right things so far, especially last week when he categorically ruled out the sale.

The board have done well also to hold their nerve and turn down 3 bids.

There comes a point when they will be forced to consider things though. Let's hope that point isn't £35m + add ons.

£35m plus add on. I really do not care much. Stones worths more than this and can save their season.

We might sign Mori and Evans as replacements but I rather build our team and add Mori and a playmaker.

He has rejected every bid thus far but still they speculate.

And the "He" in that is important. Today, the WBA chairman ruled out a bid from Spurs for Berahino. Not Pulis. Talksport were adamant earlier that the board will leave any decision to sell, or not, to Martinez.

I said earlier that it might be a clever diversion tactic, but with the recent issues re Bills health, it isnt as daft as it sounds.

I'm not really sure what your point is.
Then perhaps I misunderstood the point of your post.

You said

Unfortunately the top 4 isn't decided on trying hard

which I took to imply that you meant selling Stones would be a superior strategy to break into the top 4 than Chico's suggestion, which was:

Or keeping the talented young team together and trying instead?

So I pointed out that very few if any clubs have been able to break into the champions league going the route you suggested. Understand?

Would you like to clarify what you meant if I've got it wrong?

No to Chelsea even if this £40m bid comes. Personally if this bid had come a few months ago I would be upset but consider it an acceptable amount (just). The way Chelsea have behaved in the media has convinced me that this is behaviour that should not in anyway be rewarded. That a putative 4th bid has been circulated so quickly shows they are desperate and that we shouldn't reward them
