John Stones

Stones looks so assured and confident when he's on the ball. I like the way he runs into the oppositiom half a lot with thd ball, makes it harder for the opposition to defend. The fact he's only 19 is a credit to him.

I agree, but his confidence and ability far outweigh his naive faults. Like Barkley, he is being nurtured.

England pairing in 18 months.

I agree and I think he will be far better than Jags or Distin......in time. His confidence and ability belies his age but like you say he is still a bit naïve. His ability on the ball is already much greater than Jags and Distins and probably any CB in the league if I am honest, but he is still green with regards to reading the game and positioning. It will come with time but IMO he will cost us quite a few unnecessary goals whilst he is still learning. More than Jags and Distin anyway at this moment in time.

Palace is physical and Stones doesn't have that much experience against that kind of play + Cameron Jerome always kills us + he didn't have McCarthy in front of him. He'll learn. Match loss isn't on him.

John Stones though.

We're having this mad season of Roberto's revolution. When we got £28m for Felli and replaced him with a better and much more likeable player in Barkley for nothing, we thought it couldn't get any better.
It was during early season interviews when Martinez would mention the 'phenomenal' young players at the club. Reeling off first teamers like Seamus and McCarthy to mention alongside Ross, and he'd always mention Stones' name too. We all thought he was doing his positive mind set thing but as the season's gone on we've all slowly realised that the kid who 'Panenka'd' Juve pre-season really is the real deal. We've got the new Beckenbauer lids, and that's doing young Stones an injustice :)

John Stones though.

Young players this good have to play. John Stones isn't going to iron out his mistakes playing for the u21s - you have to accept the mistakes because he's already better than half the centre backs in the league and in 2/3 years time will probably be one of the best in Europe

With Jags and Distin available I wouldn't play him in the important matches we have had but as we have had injuries to Jags then yes he must play. I would carry on introducing him if we are comfortable in a match or even loan him out with an instant recall clause. He will be a great player no doubt but will cost us a number of important goals whilst he is still learning. Too many mistakes in his learning curve could actually be detrimental to himself. Jags will replace him with immediate effect when he is available because he is better defensively.

Mate, loan stonesy out? He's a bit past that isn't he? He's at the same level as Distin & Jags and will only get better. Though I agree he shouldn't play every week automatically, he should be in and around the team all the time (either starting or on the bench).

Not defensively.......yet.

Lads, sorry but he is not quite ready defensively.

Spot on.

BUT.... Coleman wasnt either, hes added that to his game now hes the best RB in the league.

When Stonsey becomes a more of a defender than he is now he will have it all, this will come with age
