John Stones

The issue is that he's a tweener...should perhaps be captaining the U21's but, at the same time, he's just that little bit too good to not have on the subs bench. From the outside, it looks like a tough call...just have to trust the manager.

Isn't it?
That's rubbish, we won 8 games in a row last season with him deputising for jags, he's by far our most acomplished defender on the ball which Martinez is tring to develop in our play and in my opinion the centre halves haven't been completely at the races at the start but are all reliable. When we get Coleman back firing this will make a big difference in a defending and overall play. Especially offensively on the right. We will set new markers this year!

We conceded 2 goals, do we now drop Stones because of his mistake, by which rationale, pretty much means we should drop Distin for kicking the ball at the opponent for the other goal?

Who are we playing next week, Arsenal... and what do the hell do we do if we concede another against them, drop Jags as well if its his fault?

Its a long season and I am concerned about what will happen when we've dropped everyone and we are on our 40th from best defender. Just not sure our senior accountant will be better than Stones, and if he makes a mistake its Hibbert next ffs.

May be worth persevering, just for a little before calling for a player to be dropped on the back of a single mistake, he also did a lot right during that game to be fair.

All things considered, he's 3rd choice centre -back, is he not?

Pretty sure when Seamus is fit, our back 4 will be the standard Coleman-Jags-Distin-Baines (with Stones on the bench.)

no mate, because he is an experienced player, so his mistakes are not over analyzed to the point of exhaustion
