Why wouldn't it be? We can't afford to wait for him to turn into a quality player IMO we need results now IMO. That's what you'd get with Senderos/Toure/Anton Ferdinand etc. IMO.

The alternatives are:

a) leave him in the team and let him let him find his feet/lose his way and confidence
or
b ) make sure a fantastic young prospect is guided in a professional way

I think maybe it'll come down to finances as most things do at Everton. We'll leave him in for long periods and hope that the second part of
alternative a) doesn't happen.

Played fantastic last year, gets England call up and almost makes the world cup squad.

It'll be Distin and Jags and so it should be. Distin was dodgy on saturday yes, but his pace will be key against Arsenal.

But he still has a lot to learn defensively, which is understandable at the age of 20.

No one is slagging him off but it is obvious that his inexperience is showing and unfortunately it is costing us. Not a problem if we were more productive at the other end but in tight games its going to be very costly for us. No matter what he still is a good player and will only get better and have a feeling he will be one of the best, but he is still young and learning.

In a nutshell basically.

No one is slagging him off but it is obvious that his inexperience is showing and unfortunately it is costing us. Not a problem if we were more productive at the other end but in tight games its going to be very costly for us. No matter what he still is a good player and will only get better and have a feeling he will be one of the best, but he is still young and learning.

He wasn't playing in his favored position for most of the game, and for the second goal the entire defensive organization was wrong, he slid over and left his man unmarked because it looked like Jagielka would get beaten. Despite his age I still have full faith in him starting as a central defender, the only thing I'm skeptical of now is changing from 4 in the back to 3 in the middle of the game, as it clearly threw off our organization.
