Honestly it could be the end for Distin as a starter imo, both alcaraz and especially stones seem ready right now and both are more comfortable on the ball for this system

Plus any mistakes that stones may make whilst learning, well its not like Distin doesnt make a decent amount of mistakes himself so i don't see the isue for the rest of the year going Jags/stones when fit

Stones was brilliant today.

When Jags and Distin are fit there's going to be some serious competition for the shirt.

Moyes deserves credit for bringing him in despite probably knowing it would take a while for the lad to come through.

Martinez wanted him at the same time whilst he was at Wigan, so you know we've got a player he really rates highly.

I'm almost as excited about Stones as I am about Barkley. If he's as good as Martinez says he is then we could have one of the best defenders in the league within a few years. All for £3m.

He's so composed on the ball if he got any more relaxe he'd fall asleep. Outstanding defensively as well today. Except for when he fell over for no reason without a player within 30 yards.

So who place would he take this season, he a star in the making and needs to play games to come on like Barkley, and one more question? which defender does he remind you off?

"I hope i become a fans favourite, i love the Club to bits"... Is something he said in his interview on EvertonTV.

Topic of Jelavic' chipped pen came up and he said: "If i was teaching him, it would of went it"

It's great having such competition for place in the back line.

I do think Robles could be a good challenger to Howard in a year or two, but right now for me Howard is the clearly better player.

However, left back we appear to have two excellent players, we have two tried and tested top class centre backs in Jags and Distin, while Alcaraz has come in and looks like he has been here for years, and Stones has given us a glimpse of the future with a series of assured performances.

Wonder what will happen in the future when Hibbo () retires and Coleman gets injured or needs a rest? Bobby might want to look into that in the summer perhaps, unless Oviedo baby can slot in and we keep Baines.

Distin will have max one more full season for us with I guess he'll not play as many games next year. At the moment I think it's him and Jagielka to start until their performances drop as they have been great the last two months.

When old Dusty goes it'll be Stones to come in, with Alcaraz pushing him and Jagielka all the way.

I think Duffy will be sold.

Still lots to learn, hopefully this will be a season to be gently exposed to first team and next year when Sylvain is 36, will be his proper breakthrough year. Whilst I would love to see a young English centre half come through and be a regular, I would prefer it to be a natural progression when a stalwart has nothing left to give. Watch the press jump massively on his bandwagon a la Barkley.
