The lads did brilliant. Very proud of them, especially young John who didn't let go of Oviedo's hand for a second.

been increasingly impressed with Stones from day 1. His confidence defies his age and he seems quite matter-of-fact too. Seems ready to talk, organize others which I feel we have needed for quite some time ... I could go on but we all know we have a world class defender on our hands, dare I say Beckenbauer~esque. Keep up the good work John.

The holding of Oviedo's hand was a touch of class. Given time, he will be captain and a good on at that.

That says a lot about Hibbert for me as well. Hardly played at all this year but the one match he gets in, he still wants to make sure that the newer/younger players are successful, even though one of them could be taking his job.

I know it's early days, but it's certainly a good thing to see a young, confident, ball playing centre-half in English football for once.

I really hope I'm proved wrong here, and admittedly my eyesight isn't too clever, but he just seems a yard too slow for my liking. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope he just has a languid running style and is actually deceptively fast.

If he plays right back tues, you'll see the lad isn't slow at all
