I just saw it say 3 games on SSN. I'm obviously going to believe the club on this one then but still, this needs to be made clearer.

Rule book says it's normally one, so I'm believing what the OS say.

As a rule, a player who is sent off the field of play is suspended for the next match in a UEFA club competition. The Control and Disciplinary Body is entitled to augment this punishment. For serious offences the punishment can be extended to all UEFA competition categories

i don't think i've heard of a player get a 3 match ban in a cup tbh. i mean if someone get's sent off in an FA Cup final for example, they may not play again in the competition for 4 years! i've never heard of that possibility. you'd see people sent off in the 6th round not playing in the final - same with WC's etc.

If you get sent off in domestic cup games it counts for next 3 domestic games whether they be league or cup. McGeady was sent off in cup game and was suspended in next league game.

only FA Cup. for some reason league cup seems to go by different rules... i believe anyway. maybe it's changed. i shouldn't have used the FA Cup as an example actually, because that's wrong as you point out haha.

League cup is the same Costa committed the stamp in that competition but his ban was for league games.
