Do you want to be as important for England as players like Rio Ferdinand and John Terry? Do you see yourself as an England centre-back for the long-term?
Oh definitely. I’d love to, yeah. I think, without being arrogant or anything about it, I’d love to set the mark and try and be as good as them and hopefully do well for England. I’ve got to do that at Everton first to get picked. If I achieve anything like they have it’d be beyond anything I could ever imagine. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but yeah that’d be great.
In terms of style do you think you’re more like Terry or Ferdinand?
I’m trying to get that mixture. I think from last season to this season there’s been a big difference and definitely that mixture between smooth passing and tough defending is going to be a good recipe for my game. I’m still learning little things but I’ve definitely brought the more ‘dirty’ side into my game now which every defender needs.

Poor John, that is probably him out of the first two games if the concussion confirmed.

John Stones is set to be miss England Under-21s' first group game against Portugal in the European championships tomorrow with concussion.
It is a major blow for Gareth Southgate for whom Stones, 20, was one of the major figures in the team.
Stones is one of the five England players who has been capped by Roy Hodgson's seniors. He picked up the injury in the closed session yesterday.

Aye. Though it's still crap for the lad, concussion is preferable to a muscle or ligament injury.

Glad he's out tbh,just know if he plays he'll get a knock,and it'll be touch and go for the start of the season,its the Everton way,doh.
Why? What possible benefit is it to us?
I can't speak for Ijjy, but I worry about our players like they were my kids. I always imagine them getting a broken leg every time they step out on to the field for international duty.

Well, less risk of injury playing.
Not nice to have concussion but happy it's nothing more serious.
Not too arsed how our U21's do in this tournament.
But if you have an emotional connection with then surely you want them to be happy? he could get a broken leg slipping getting out of the shower, can't protect them all the time. Lad will be absolutely gutted by this.
