John Stones

I remember when Tony Adams got the eeyore chants in his first season.

He was allowed to learn from his mistakes and the rest we all know.

Stones has to play. He has to learn and be allowed to make mistakes. Those mistakes may even cost us games but if he's still with us in 5 years time and is head and shoulders above anyone else in the league which he has the potential to be then it will have been well worth it.

He seems to switch off quite often, doesn't track runners very well and positioning isn't great.

But he's going to be CLASS and days like these are the only way to learn at the top level.

People were slitting their wrists over some of the mistakes Barkley made early on and now they cry when he's overlooked to start. The same will happen for Stones next season he needs to make mistakes at this level to develop.

I didn't think he was that bad, overall. The scoreline is harsh. If it had stayed 2-1 I don't think too many people would have been complaining too much. Arsenal deserved to win, just not by that score

Lets show some belief in this kid,he seems like a lad with his head screwed on,who'll listen and learn,I've seen enough centre backs come and go at Goodison over the years to know that he's got more than half a chance of making it.

he's a kid and might become a top player....but he's not ready for this kind of game yet, just like he wasn't ready for the derby...
we should be looking to loan him out for a full season (same with Robles), so they can learn their craft and benefit us down the line....coleman benefited from going to Blackpool, sitting on the bench does nothing for any young player.....martinez should have brought an experienced centre back in in January when he decided to allow heitinga leave....we've basically thrown away a promising season by not buying in January (we were level with Liverpool at that stage!)....

I think Its briliant, 3rd choice at the moment and xant wait to see him next season after getting all this experience.
it's been a baptism of fire for sure. In the long run, it will probably be the best apprenticeship the lad could have. He seems a very 'with it' character so I don't think it will have dented his confidence too much

Absolutely LOVE him, McCarthy and Barkley being 3 of the teams spine. Quality with massive potential who we can warch grow in blue colours

There are still at least 3 slots up for grabs in the spine and one of those is alongside Stones long term.

I find this, McCarthys partner in midfield and the signing of a top forward the most interesting 3 things happening with us for now.

I agree. I think we all got a little ahead of ourselves, expectation-wise, this season. But if we can lay down some very solid foundations of youthful talent (which RM is hopefully on to), then the future is looking good
