This I agree with. I wouldn't play him against the top teams but would against the likes of Cardiff etc. Not quite there and think another season or 2 he will be top class. Shoot me down if you like but I think he would suit a defensive midfielders role very well.
I've got no problem with playing him against teams down the table, because he's more than capable and it will help iron out those mistakes and deficiencies in his game. He's not a lad who looks like he will be massive or formidable but another stone in weight over the summer maybe would see him physically challenge opponents.

He's had some tough games against the likes off Arsenal and Liverpool, but he seems to have made his mark against non European chasing premiership sides. As many have said, he will improve with more games. Wouldn't be surprised to see him wearing Heitinga's old number next season.

If we get Europa he'll be vital, his game is suited, plus the experience will make him grow even more. That reason alone i want Europe. Youngsters like Stones, Barkley etc get that vital experience.

I love that Roberto is giving him time and not scared of exposing the lads, had a mare v arsenal but kept his place and that's brilliant, his confidence will grow.

Think he reads the game so well for someone so young. No doubt he's got a lot to learn but with experience he'll be class. Not many kids his age get a good run at centre back in a top side but he's doing a good job. The lad's a beast.

Looks more comfortable on the ball than jags and distin. Can pick a pass, tackle and has good hieght. Should be close to first choice next season.

He's a long way behind Jagielka and Distin but I'd keep playing him anyway because the potential is there.

Far too tentative and stands off his man a lot right now, but he'll get better, definitely.

For me, that's down to him being comfortable in the tackle...something which surprised me after first looking at him as he just appears to be one you'd expect to be more of standing tackler but he does both well. Main thing he's got is timing and that's 80% of what you want.

Tbf to the lad he's played his career thus far as RB until his debut PL season!

Gonna be a top top player in a few years. Needs to build up and fill out and get more and more experience. EL footy would be great for him and a few others.

No Idea how to bring up old posts...

A-- Said he'd be a good signing
B-- Said we needed to find him a partner
C-- Said he would get loads of caps
D-- Said our spine mccarthy/stones/barkley awesome

See a few echoes here which is fantastic!!!

One great tackle after his cock up trying to control instead of header it at the back which would have been certain goal, done well a lot of the time and not as good at others, but still young and played quite a lot more than what he probably expected.i am happy with him and he will learn a lot, every defender make's mistake's at times
