John Stones

i'd like to see it tried, would probably only suit the more attacking role though. he's not really a winger for me.

I think I'd class Pienaar as a wide midfielder as opposed to a winger. He never really goes to the byline and is much more inclined to move inside and make space for Baines. I still like Pienaar, he was playing well before his injury.

Different type of player. You wouldn't say Pique isn't as good as Luiz because he doesn't do all these eccentric things would you?

yes i would mate

pique is a very good CB luiz is a crap CB.

but if pique had the ball skills of luiz too he would be one of the worlds best ever CB's.

Erm, yeah.

Shawcross is a very good centre back, and in comparison, John Stones is a crap centre back.

Stones was so good today that i would find it impossible to put Jagielka in against Arsenal ahead of him.

I wouldn't go that far. We can all see Stones has the potential and is already so comfortable on the ball but since Jags has been out I think we have been all over the place at the back. Thought Fulhams forwards got too much time and space today as did Swanseas. Always remember Gary Stevens showing great promise but Kendall kept dropping him because his positional sense was not good....he soon learned. Same goes with Stones, still learning but you can see he will be a top player for us but he is not experienced enough at the moment. He is learning and will continue to learn for another season or two. Give me Jags any day.

Reminds me a bit of Mats Hummels the Dortmund centre back, quality on the ball, reads the game excellently and likes to bring the ball into midfield.

Never heard of him over here til we signed him, but the kid is a special talent, to be sure. He played exceptionally today. I look forward to many years of him anchoring the defense. He could certainly be the face of the franchise in a few years.

To be honest mate not many over here had either

The latest example in how bloody good David Moyes is at spotting a bargain. Fortunately, he's gone now so he didn't have a chance to Magaye Gueye the lad into no mans land.

I'd been scouting Stones for a few of years prior to us signing him and had been very impressed. It was no surprise to me when he signed up professionally for Barnsley in December 2011. Wasn't surprised Moyes went in for him as i'd tipped him for big things.

I was particularly impressed with his goal against Rochdale on the 11th of August 2012, watching from the stands there were clear signs of a future top drawer talent.
