John Stones

Probably internet gossip but strange when RM was so adamant young Stones was going nowhere, from day one last summer?
RM allegedly states selling Lukaku in one article he could fetch in 4-5 players for his sale strange when we have a billionaire on the board now!
its media exploitation it may be hard to keep our star players , if BK was still struggling , but this new guy has indicated the opposite on our best stars?
Probably something that was took out of context, pretty certain the last thing he'd want is to lose rom

Yes exactly goes totally against on his stance on John Stones, RM was adamant he was not for sale - makes even less sense if we now have a billionaire board member with almost outright control!

Think we'll be seeing a lot of [Poor language removed] stirring by the media going into the summer. Theyre butthurt that plucky old everton can fend of huge bids now after so many years of them trying to sell off our players

I speculate that RM was probably wanting for a better term. He's fluent in English, but its fair to say its not his mother tongue and it could have been a bit of "lost in translation" in his mind when he said it. After Moshiri, I highly doubt he would start being on the 'cash-in' side.

Back to Stones, though (stone's throw?), I really do think he's suited to midfield rather than defence. He likes to hold the ball and that is way more useful in mid than CB. Perhaps a CDDDDDDM role is best.

I don't really think there is owt there to suggest Bobby wants to punt Rom.

I would love to know the question he was responding to when he stated the simple true fact that when Ronaldo wanted to leave United there was nowt they coukd do to stop it and that this is the way of the modern game.

Personally I have no doubt Rom will be here for next season at the very least.

And we don't need to sell to buy no moah

Should sell Stones. He can be replaced.

Lukaku however can't be replaced.

We shouldn't be looking to sell anybody mate.

If an offer comes in for Stones that is deemed acceptable and he wants to leave at the time, then so be it.

I'd much rather he stayed on though.

Martinez has got a big job on his hands to restore some confidence back into Stones. He did with Jags and Baines, both got slaughtered for the LFC/England debacle in Brazil. Martinez did a good job with them and will have to with Stones, who on Saturday he looked real nervous.

I've been thinking for a while that Stones might be better in midfield. His defending skills have been called into question too many times, but he's clearly comfortable on the ball, like to run out of defence, and plays a decent pass. Could definitely fill a midfield maestro role.

Too bad his long-balls pretty devastatingly bad, otherwise I'd say give him a Lampard/Gerrard role.
