John Stones

There are only 3 clubs in world football at the moment that are not 'selling club's' - Barca, Real Madrid and Bayern. Everyone else will lose players they want to keep at some point.

He has 3 years left on his deal and we havent took the stance we have with Lukaku so obviously Koeman feels he can find an adequate replacement for Stones. As much as i'd like him to stay, it is probably easier to replace a defender (even with someone who has less ability on the ball) than a 20 goal a season striker. They are difficult to come by as proven by the shortage at the minute.

Even these clubs can't keep players who are not in their first 11. Ozil, Kroos, Thiago, Fabregas, Pedro have all left because they wanted regular football. There is not a team in the world who doesn't come under pressure to sell good players. It is a media trick just to smear what they consider the lesser clubs. Liverpool have sold every single big player of note they've had since Gerrard came through yet they are barely ever called a selling club.

No
We are a club accepting the inevitable desire by an ambitious lad to go to a club with arguable the best manager in the world

No, we are a club thinking about itself (not the player, who is expendable) and accepting that, to free up the wages to allow further acquisitions, we will probably need to sell him. Might be why other players not been signed yet, I dont know?, but we cant really splash the cash and fulfill budget constraints unless someone is sold for a big profit. Hence, why Stones is the expendable guy.

You make it sound as though he is being sold against his will
He is not
He wants to go he had wanted to go for a long time
If he wanted to stay we would keep him and sell other players

I know he wants to go, he did put in a transfer request.
However, this year like last, if we didnt want to sell him we wouldnt, just like Lukaku.
To have our wage bill increased, to allow the 'better' players we 'seem' to want, then to comply with budgetary constraints we need to make a big profit on one or more players. He is the likeliest players to achieve that goal!

Yes I have read and understand @theesk post in the financial reasons and I will still believe (myself ) that if a player of his quality and potential wants to stay RK and Moshiri would fund a way to make it happen

He's not back yet, SNAKE. Holding us to ransom until he gets his dream move.

Everton v Tottenham

Seven more players returned to Finch Farm to start pre-season training on Monday as Ronald Koeman welcomed back a Copa America finalist and six Blues who travelled to this summer's European Championships.

Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Aiden McGeady are all back on Merseyside having helped Republic of Ireland reach the last 16 in France and were joined by Shani Tarashaj, who got to the same stage with Switzerland.

John Stones and Ross Barkley, who were members of the England squad that also got to the round of 16, reported back for their first day of pre-season training, with Ramiro Funes Mori linking up with club teammates again having helped his Argentina colleagues to reach a second successive Copa final in what was the tournament's centenary year.

It means Romelu Lukaku is the only Toffee still to return from his summer break, the striker having been given an extended period of rest after helping Belgium reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.

And while Koeman admits it would have been preferable to spend the whole of his first pre-season at the Club getting to know his players, he appreciates it's part and parcel of inheriting a squad littered with international-quality stars.

The Dutchman told evertontv: "The perfect scenario would have been to start with everybody. But that's not really the football business in the last few years.

"You know after a European Championship you will need to start later on.

"The players except for Lukaku will all start [today]. Then we will have almost everybody back and that's good because then we can start really to work on the team for the season."
