John Stones

Dave we all know there's no pride in footballers anymore, they're all out for themselves. I'll give him his due that he didn't kick up a major fuss but he definitely should have been more appreciative of his time here

Transfer request handed in.

I honestly thought that'd be it for Stones after that, but supporters went the extra mile to make him feel like he was crucial to the club. He didn't give a monkeys.

The lad believes the hype about himself.

Let's see how he holds up when the media go after him after making a massive howler in a major game...probably a series of them given his terrible positioning and lack of awareness of danger.

He wanted to go, do you not understand this
Yes, but less of the condescending please. My point is that the departure of potentially one of the best defensive talents isn't something I'll herald.

Nor is it the ideal outcome. I understand that it's probably the most suitable option at the time both financially and for John's own desires.

Yet, as a club we've once again been unable to retain the services of a talented young footballer. However people seem to now think it's superb...

I'm anticipating an influx of comments regarding how he'll never be a top player et al to start spouting from the mouths to match usual fickleness.

Compared to how mouthy Lukaku has been in though he handled it quite well, didn't cause a fuss and git in with it. I hold no grudges with him, some will some won't.

And personally I think he'll flourish under pep, still a lot to learn but he's a cracking player

Anyone who believes that selling one of the greatest defensive prospects in European football can ultimately be the best option perplexes me.

The key word there is "prospects".

We were right to take the ridiculous money on offer.

Let some other club stick him in the firing line and hope they can realise his potential.

@davek said this a year ago and it still rings true.

As far as I know Lukaku hasn't demanded to be let go.

Handing in a transfer request v making statement about needing CL football. No contest.

No one thinks it superb, just moving on and not over rating the lad as he still got alot to learn but the lad wanted out as soon as a money bag club comes in, chelsea last season, city this season.
If he was sensible he should have stayed and learned from the best defender in the game Koeman and he would have been so much better next season but he couldn't wait to get out

with all due respect mate, as you're a sensible poster, but did anybody expect the lad to spend his first interview with City talking about Everton?

Hardly gonna happen, was it.

He posted a genuine thank you message on his only 'official' social media account. It's more than many would do.

He wanted to go. He didn't kick up a fuss as an agreement between all parties had been made that if and when a club met our valuation he could leave.

As he genuinely is a sound lad, and a hugely talented one at that, I wish him all the best - apart from when it concerns us obviously.

If he even comes close to fulfilling his promise, wherever he ends up playing on the pitch, he'll be one of the best.

That being said, it's time to move on. We've got a brilliant deal for him and anyone saying otherwise is a turnip.

Onwards and upwards.

He's got his 'dream move' and we've pocketed a good few million on a defender who flatters to deceive.
Williams and Kone in and we are an already much better outfit at the back.

Just seen his interview on CityTV.

He makes it sound like he's left Guantanamo Bay.

He was almost nothing when he arrived here; Everton allowed him the space and encouragement to develop into whatever he is now. He owes us everything but for a year he's been plotting his departure.

We're well shut of that lad.

He doesn't owe us anything, we made a huge profit on a young lad who may or may not make the grade, he's been subjected to a tug of war for the last 12 months, coping with all of that at 22 is not easy. I wish him well and hope it works out for him, but let's face it, he would be one of the very few English players to blossom at City. Time we all accepted the fact that we cannot compete financially with City, United and Chelsea, we have a chance against the others and have to use our noodles, but we will always lose our brightest young talent until or unless we are bought by Bill Gates, so get on with it.

Exactly. Sod wishing him well the Billy big bullocks knobhead.

If you were as good a footballer as he is, about to earn 150k a week playing under a manager he has grown up knowing as one of the world's best, how would you react?

The lad's gone. Wish him well (relatively) and hope he goes on to become an England great. Glad I got to see him play in the Everton colours.

End of, now we make sure we get players in that overall improve us.

In hindsight you may be correct and I'm not oblivious to the fact that he wanted to go and that financially it suited the club as a whole.

Nevertheless, we've once again lost a talented youngster. People may mention Rodwell although on the other hand you could mention Rooney.

Perhaps my slight is not with John leaving but rather that as a club we cannot retain such talent; something we should strive to change.

I agree mate but you do see other players who heap a bit of praise on there fellow employers, consideringit was us who gave him.his chance in the big time. Itd go a long way.

But like you said I hold no grudges, I really liked him and wish him all the best

He can go where he wants. His career. But the fact stands that he was given a massive canvas to work on and become a so called star player by getting that at Everton. What other club would have given him that scope to get loads of PL game time and find his feet and bring him through to international football status?

He owes us big time.
