Right?

The best manager in the world continues to play him at CB.

*shrug*
Vanity. He thinks he can turn that lad into Pique? Best of luck with that.

Stones thinks as an individual, he's all over the place in a unit. He has no idea of what he should be doing working with his back four team mates or those in front of them.

Can you talk me through the process by which you came to the knowledge that one of the best coaches in football is playing a supposed non-CB as CB just for "vanity"?

It's just you say these things like its a fact or something. a bit silly really :)

3 years of no coaching, the lads doing well.
Right back at Barnsley...England international and sold for £48M after Martinez had coached him how to step out with the ball at his feet.

Never in a million years a centre back. Anyone who still doesn't see it after all this evidence are pretty dim to be fair. He;s a Carrick type all day long.

I've got more experience watching Stones' game than Guardiola.

Guardiola sees Stones as a CB who can be one of the best in the world.

I see him as an utter liability as a CB who cant focus or position himself or successfully work with his defensive team mates.

Who's got it right, me or him?

Bless you David, the vaulting at least will be a pleasure for me, please continue.

ha. gotta love the dumb arrogance

ok, keep on trucking David

Nicely swerved.

Am I right about Stones or is he? Simple question.

Swerved no.

I just thought the standout part of your silly post was your I've seen him more than one of the best coaches in the history of football so I know more. What if you are stupid and don't understand the game you are obsessed with? Wouldn't that negate how much you'd seen the player? No?

I watched Pique most of his career. He looked error prone too but managed to sort it out to get to the level of one of the top 3 or 4 CBs in the world for a few seasons. Recently come back into form again.

I believe Stones is one of the finest young footballers in world football at the moment, and am still gutted we sold him. I think he will be one of the best CBs around, and if somehow he is moved into a Busquets role then he would have a fair stab at that too. Thats just my opinion, no idea if I will be proven right...

...which is why I wont be on here stating my opinion as fact and doing mental somersaults to try and prove myself like comparing my opinion to Pep Guardiola. But hey, like I said keep on keeping on.

Your question? I would say nobody can say for certain who might be proven right on that as most of his career hasnt happened yet. But you for certain have not come to your YES/NO BLACK/WHITE conclusion because of some informed reading of the game. Whereas Guardiola would have, rightly or wrongly.

You cant be serious comparing the young Pique with Stones. He was head and shoulders above Stones in reading a game and defending when he was Stones age. That just alarming reading that.

I note also your view that Stones could do a Busquets role. That makes more sense and is a recognition at least that you can see more than his manager that he isn't working out as a CB at the moment.

Look, Guardiola has no monopoly of insight on players. We can see with our own eyes that Stones is not a CB. Guardiola wil arrive at that conclusion soon too. Remember this same manager bought Martinez for Bayern Munich as their record fee signing...then saw he wasn't working out there for them and switched him to CB. In other words: he screws up like everyone else.

Pique was pretty error prone and certainly had his own flaws in the basics of defending. He was okay at Man U and then came in to the Barca team under Guardiola. I would say I have seen 95% of his games since then and even back then in those two first amazing seasons with Guardiola was capable of brainfarts whether through poor positioning or taking risks in possession. I was not comparing them, I was simply saying a couple of seasons with errors does not mean a young defender will not become a great/good/excellent defender. "Alarming"....ha :)

"recognition that you can see more than his manager that he isn't working out as a CB at the moment".....no Dave...just wow. I love football and think I know a great deal about it, but I wont be making crazy assumptions that I can see better than Guardiola what Stones can or can't do.

"we can see with our own eyes that Stones is not a CB" what are you on about with these lunatic statements?? Please just picture yourself in a bar having a chat with some people in real life and stating some of these things. You'd be laughed out the door. At least say I personally don't think he is.

Finally, I haven't said Guardiola is flawless. Of course he isn't. But pointing out some flaws of his does not somehow make your reading of the player better than his.

For once please just write a sentence in a clear way that shows it's an opinion, not some fact that you think everybody should acknowledge. "we can see it with our own eyes".....christ, just read yourself back. Or step away from the computer and ask somebody else to.
