John Stones

Oh it'll happen mate

Of that I'm sure
I'm inclined to believe that he'll fade away due to the intense scrutiny (it's never going to let up), rather than conditions to be right for him to flourish (Not that I personally see him having the qualities to flourish anyway, he's too mentally weak).

I'm going to coin a term called 'The Rodwell Trajectory', a sort of footballing version of the Icarus Syndrome. Stones won't be at City in 5 years time, he'll be dumped long before then.

I didn't boo him

He's going to be great, but it might have to wait until a more defensively minded manager gets hold of him

I would have thought he left as good a defensively minded manager as he is ever going to come across, Mickey.

Surely Ronald Koeman would be the leading authority among modern managers in the English game on the art of central defending.

IMO he should have been whooping with delight when Ronald came here and would have been anxious to learn at the foot of the master.

He left here far too soon.

The boy is gonna be a player... vault me. He's still young and has a lot to learn but that city back 4 is awful. Stones needs to be playing alongside a leader ... a John terry type who is happy to mop up anything that gets through. Still a lot to learn but is gonna be a future england captain. Slagging him off in here is a bit churlish tbh.

How about he steps up and becomes a "leader" himself?

God knows he is four years older than a young lad whom strode the Goodison stage like a Colossus today and showed great leadership qualities.

Too many excuses being made for Stones.....Alan Shearer made a right monkey out of Phil Neville tonight when the latter started blaming Uncle Tom Cobley and all for Stones's shortcomings.

I am with @jackyboy on this one ;)

And I think he will be taking the Rodwell trail to the North East in two or three years time :)

Totally different situation... Davis has had 3 starts ? in the prem... Stones has a 50 million price tag hanging around his neck playing at a club that expect to winning things.. his every touch is scrutinised by thousands of so called experts... the pressure to perform must be immense. The hype we as fans place on these players is stupid. Stones is quality, if you can't see that I feel sorry for you.
