John Stones

I think theres also going to be a massive focus from him and Lukaku (Barkley and Deulofeu will stay 100%) on new signings.

If Rooney signed would it affect him?

If we signed Yarmolenko?

Personally, i think we need to make two signings of similar age and ability to Stones/Lukaku/Deulofeu/Barkley to show them all we are building a top notch team. Not only for Europa or champions league but to challenge for the title.

For a central defender like Stones i think he must be dismayed having Howard behind him. Also, Jagielka isnt getting any younger and so we need Mori to step up another level by the end of the season...to have top quality around Stones not just in the attacking positions.

Hypothetically if Stones were to sign a new 5 year contract i wonder if he would ask who we will be after or signing beforehand. Also hypothetically which positions he would want to see strengthened before committing.

We hear about this sometimes...

I now wonder if perhaps this may also be a reason for Martinez suddenly saying Mirallas and Naismith are available and lumping in McGeady and Gibson into it also by talking about the Euros...perhaps in contract talks with someone new players have been discussed and he needs to generate funds.

Who knows? But its interesting to speculate.

When i was playing in defence it was great having attacking players who were top notch at that level but really annoyed me to see defenders worse than me in the side and the dodgy reserve keeper whenever he got a game....

You cant beat Baines,Coleman and Jags but Mori (for now) and Howard can be improved on...

Still think if Barca comes calling he'll go. Best fit play style wise and it's barca ffs. Would rather keep him like. Think winning the league cup and therefor making europa would keep him and rom here. Silverware and euro football shows a great improvement and potential. Can't go from upper middle pack to title contenders in one season

I think if we could kill teams off then wed be much closer to the top. I keep going back to Howard but i feel that the mentality of the defence must be all over the place with him in goal...a better keeper would instill more confidence and allow us to play a higher line.

Also, although he did really well it cant be ignored that Galloway offered nothing compared to Baines on set pieces or experienced attacking play. Now he is back Baines could add some assists for more goals and also change the opposition strategy instead of always focusing on Galloway.

Additionally, Cleverley has been out and were short in left midfield...also backup to Lukaku...

With a couple of signings in Jan we could see a galvinised team and make a real push.

Personally i think were 2 more seasons away from seeing a top notch team...we need 5 more players signed and youth to come through and a season of playing together before having a team to go for the title.

but even 5th or 6th seems like a stretch TBH[/QUOTE]

We don't need two new signings their age, IMO.

We need a proven quality attacking midfielder (Mertens, Yermolenko, Didavi etc.) to come into the team as a player in their prime.

A young goealkeeper (25-27 range) is also what we need to be looking at.

We need a player in his prime, now. With good experience, at a good enough age to give us 3 or 4 years....Yarmo fits this absolutely perfect.

If they had kept Moyes i think he would have gone all out for Stones by now.

LVG makes random signings...

I think United are the most likely of the prem clubs. They can write a blank cheque and there's a huge incentive in having Smalling and Stones as a cb pair for club and country.

Dont have the money now...think it was ruminnege (sp) who said recently that he was looking at finances of top clubs now and they were 26th even below the 20th team in the prem.

More realistic for us to sign someone from Bayern.
Seriously? Not that I don't believe you, I just find it hard to believe THAT. Three years ago they paid £32m for a player they didn't need, just because they were their rivals. Would have thought they were up there with the United's and Chelsea's of the world..

Haha yeah...saw it somewhere a few days ago.

Well they bought Costa this year for 30 mil so I doubt they don't have the money. It's Bayern, not Wycombe Wanderers we're talking about here.

Back on topic, Manchester United apparently prepared a £50m bid for John. Think we can get even more at this point, so would definitely negotiate. But that's a lot of money, aswell.

I'd only sell outside the prem if at all. 50m and tearing up del's buyback clauses to barca would be myour preference if we HAD to sell which we dont
