I thought he played well, particularly as Walcott left him very exposed. Walcott seemed to have no idea there may be a player behind him as he simply marked a patch of turf.Of course he isn't a world beater.
But if we are going to play the game Silva wants us to - confident on the ball and aggressive off it - then performances like that show he may well be suited.
Can we just give credit where credit is due?
Played well last night. May as well stick with him and play a style of football that allows for his solid defensive work (rather than insisting on some marauding right back). One of the view, if only, young player successes this season.

Totally agree. Kenny might not be anywhere near any good going forward but it’s not like Coleman was setting the world alight that end either.

If you play Walcott, best asking if they would not mind us putting twelve on to make up the deficit. If you are going to play Walcott, play two up front or not at all. Very comfortable with either.
Sane made most of the right backs look like fools this season.
But not our lid.
There was all this talk about transition through the first half of the season.
Replaced, and rightly so, by a false dawn judgment.
Well last night I saw and felt real and proper hope and substance.
One foundation stone being layed.
I don't care whether he's world class or 1st division 'quality'.
Whether he's got razzle dazzle and silky moves.
I care bc he cares.
I believe bc he believes.
I'd have him represent us, than Wan Bissaka coming in on a fat cheque, any day.
Going by what we've seen so far WB would wilt like the rest of em.
Not JJ, we already know what he's got.
And what that is can't necessarily be bought.
We don't need superstars everywhere on the pitch - this never really works and certainly not transplanting approach into a unique club like ours.
Ours should not be a plastic surgery type of transformation.
Yes, we need something special on the right wing.
But he'll be all the more special for having a player like JJ behind.
This is how good sides come to pass, the superstars rely on the meat and potatoes.
I honestly think with more games and confidence he will be much better going forward.
For every meastro there has to be some one to push the piano on stage - brazil manager 1970Sane made most of the right backs look like fools this season.

The criticism before last night was a lack of responsibility, no-one taking charge, needing a captain on the pitch. Jonjoe and Tom certainly took responsibility. Jonjoe has always been a talker, we need someone more vocal, he needs to pay less respect to senior players, and play his normal game, which involves using his mouth as much as his feet.
I still hope he can make it, as much for his attitude as his ability.
Very solid performance; and more importantly, his effort and passion are obvious.
I’d like to see him played with Davies in that right CM pivot spot; and Lookman ahead on the RW.
Walcott’s constant turnovers made life difficult for JJ at times.
